Or it could be that the hits taken while in the pocket have them in a more vulnerable position to absorb it. Anyway, it’s a pointless exercise for fans to complain about the amount of times the team calls on Allen to run. The coaches will do what they see as the best for the teams goals. Winning championships and having Josh Allen as their QB for a long time. Doesn’t matter if we think he should run more or run less. It might not even matter what the coaches think…I think Josh calls his own number on most of those runs… Edited September 19, 2022 by mannc 1 Quote
H2o Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Tough situation for Lance. He loses a year of possible development, the 49ers will do much better with Jimmy G, and now San Fran will really be behind the 8 Ball as far as how the future plays out. This doesn't bode well and likely pushes Lance more towards the "bust" column on the draft chart. Quote

billsfan1959 Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Hate to see injuries like this. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. Quote

It's all about what the read player does, usually the DE. If he takes the RB, Josh keeps it. If he goes for Josh, he hands it off Quote

Lance played hardly at all his last year in college (30 Att), very little last year (71 Att), and now will miss the rest of this year after only 31 Att. Next year he will be returning from a bad injury and having only attempted 132 passes in three years. He may come back and be the franchise QB SF hoped for when they traded 3 1st round picks him; however, it doesn't look real promising at the moment. 1 1 Quote

Then he's not the best player in the game. I rather him be the best player in the game. Or are you just wanting to be super picky about when he runs? So you can nit pick and complain constantly. What is your point exactly? Of course QB's can get injured running, in the pocket or just slipping on a mat. Did OP take people seriously who said QB's who run don't get injured? Sacks and knockdowns are huge for a defense, not just because they disrupt the play, but because you’re hitting the QB. When he decides to run, it’s free hits. Even if he stiff arms a guy and it looks cool on highlights, he takes a hit. And those hits add up. I love the highlight reels but I’d like to see Josh playing in ten years just as much. Quote
