Jerry Hughes and OJ Howard, neither was going to stick with the Bills this year so they ended up as  Texans and turned into stars in their first regular game.

Jerry Hughes has been on fire through pre-season and he carried it on in the first game.  He got two sacks and stripped the ball out on one knocking the Colts out of field position.  He also got an interception returning it 14 yards and another tackle for a loss.  Too bad the Texans didn't win and are a low profile team or a lot of people would be talking about his performance.  IMO he was always a very good Bill and happy for him to close out his career so well and at home.

OJ Howard was picked up by the Texans and he scored both of their TDs.   One of his TDs there was a defensive mix up and he was effectively uncovered.   There are a lot of Frank Reich fans here as am I but any talk about him being a great head coach wasn't evident last Sunday.  I dont think the Colts were prepared for the game and Reich was outcoached by Lovie Smith.

Our castoffs are making other teams better and any fear of the COLTS with Reich and Matt Ryan  from a Bills standpoint was greatly alleviated.

I saw Jerry's highlights. TBH I completely forgot he signed with Houston... which makes sense because I think that's where he's from/lives.

Someone over on the Bills subreddit was lamenting the loss of Howard and pointed out his two TDs and it's like... yay? Good for him, I hope he does well. He may have had a bit of luck in that the Colts obviously couldn't game-plan for him, ya know how sometimes when a backup QB comes in and lights it up because the D isn't prepared for that guy? Something like that. I was hoping he'd work out here but that Achilles injury has really affected him.

Losing Jerry was bittersweet that was a situation of letting a player go a year early rather than a year late he has always been a dog for us Von is just better And we needed to let these young guys that we drafted blossom

Will always root for Jerry Hughes as the player

Beane sending Jerry and Howard down to Houston to hand Indy a week 1 tie is 4D chess.

Jerry looked good.  Glad to see hes having some success down here in front of his home city crowd.

loved jerry but he's been a 1/2 late against Mahomes constantly and his pressures don't effect his play see end of KC game. Mills on the other hand is  . .. . .

They still lost though.

Hughes may have made a rare impact play but I'm confident he won't do much over the course of the rest of the year there unless it's just garbage time stuff against other teams backups when they are down 3+ scores.

But the OJ Howard thing is a bit puzzling because he certainly did not look like a guy who has a lost a step which is what some speculating was the main reason the Bills moved on and ate his contract.

They cut him because of the fascination with useless players like Sweeney who only really contribute on ST and still a big problem with this regime in terms of their overall roster building methodology. Bottom line I think not keeping Howard will prove to be a big mistake later.

What by chance were the other DLmen doing against Mahomes?  Nothing.  Jerry was the only one creating pressure and non of his line mates were ever in position to take advantage of Jerry moving Mahomes off of his spot.  He had countless pressures in his last game as a bill.  His teammates were nowhere to be found

Happy for Jerry and OJ. They will get playing time they would not get in Buffalo and have chances to make plays for a Texans team that is pretty light on talent, but plays scrappy.

They didn't lose.

Hughes play wasn't in garbage time.  2 sacks, another tackle for a loss, a forced fumble and an interception, that is impressive by any measure.

You werent on here before claiming they should keep Howard before they cut him.  Lats see how much Howard does this year.

1. They tied.

2. What NFL offense is having their QB take 7 step drops in garbage time up 3 scores? Thats when you run the ball.

3. Howard caught 2 passes while wide open.  He was literally uncovered.

4. OJ has lost a step, cannot stay healthy and will not be missed,

5.  Bottom line, you know nothing about football.

I’m confidant that you are as clueless as I originally thought.

Took snaps in 8 playoff games.  Has 7 sacks.  But yeah…no

Colts need to clean house.  Frank has to go...

I just never saw a big upgrade from Wentz to an aging Ryan.  Maybe a little bit in terms of QB IQ, but that's about it.

Frank has some work to do.
