Matt Barkley...Keep on the Roster

We all have our favorite 2-3 guys that we want on the 53 man roster.

 

For me, Matt Barkley is one of those guys. I get it. He's the 3rd string QB on most predictions. He likely would be inactive each week, but he can still fill-in 

 

I just think what he adds to the QB room, his knowledge of the offense, and his willingness to try to fill a hole in a pich is valuable.

 

So, who do I cut?  I would cut whomever is the 5th or 6th special teams guy or that 9th or 7th guy at a position.

He's not a good backup QB option.    The people pondering whether he is as good as Keenum clearly don't follow the rest of the NFL because Barkley is flat-out terrible and Keenum can actually play QB in the NFL.    It's not close.

 

He can be a cheerleader on the practice squad or he can bounce around between teams again.

Just keep him as punter. Let him focus on punting, then if you need an emergency QB, he's available. Knock on wood.

Keenum didn't show as a better option than Barkley.  I just love the fact that he was willing to do whatever including punting during the preseason because it was needed.

I'm 98% sure that he will be cutted and then placed on the practice squad to be this year's Davis Webb.   It's highly doubtful that someone else pick him up and put him on their 53 at cutdown.

I think the plan is to cut him knowing he will sign here to be on the practice squad. I think by all indications he wants to be here and can still be a valuable sounding board even though not active on game day.

He’s not subject to waivers.

He'll be placed on the practice squad and it's highly unlikely anyone will come in for him.

Right -- I forgot. I will fix it.   In any case, I doubt that any team will pick him up for their 53 and I assume he would rather be in the Bill's practice squad than another teams.

Barkley might be the worst qb in the nfl. Really nice guy and the best part of last game was him punting. But he is horrible. Nice guy though.

He's definitely not the worst. Wouldn't want him as the #2 even with Keenum looking mostly awful. He'll be on the practice squad.

$207k per year.  I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a little more.

if he can throw just one TD pass a year…he will break even on TD/INT ratio in 9 years.

He can do all that cheerleading stuff as a member of the Practice Squad.

Practice squad and he will be content I’m sure.  He’s not going to be picked up for any team’s 53.  For some reason I do see coaching in his future.

He'll go to the practice squad. Won't be picked up on waivers cuz he's been in the league more than 4 years. Plus, I'm pretty confident he wants to be here, even if it's just the ps
