Yes, but they often need to get work with the offense so they can’t devote a lot of time to working with the kicker and long snapper. Using the punter was a natural progression because the three (kicker, punter and long snapper) are always together in practice.

of the guys out there, I'd go for Jordan Berry. He punted in inclement weather in reports say that he probably 'won' the punting competition for the Vikings, but not by enough to keep him over the rookie they drafted. He would be an upgrade over Haack.

I predict that we will sign Brett Kern from Tennessee,  who is likely to be cut on Tuesday.  3 time PB, having a great camp and still has a lively leg. Averaging 49yds in camp. He's also a home boy, Grand Isle native. And the best part is he's a coffin corner, pin em deep punter. That's perfect for us, with our O its not too often we will be putting from deep in our territory.  Keep an eye out for this.

USFL’s leading punter is a possibility. BRandon Wright 48 yd average zero blocked and he holds for kicks.

If he gets cut by Tennessee. It’s not going to be an option to keep getting paid by the NFL team in that state. 
 

Also, game check state tax payments determined by where the games are played.  So it’s not all or nothing NYS tax compared to state tax wherever else he might sign.

I saw a few titans fans on Reddit suggesting we are trading for Brett kern…he isn’t playing in their preseason finale despite being in a punting battle with their rookie punter and a starter not being named yet.

From what I’ve heard it’s pretty much a given that Kern will be cut. I’d be surprised if we trade for him though.
