I thought there’s a practice time issue with current rules and teams have moved away from backup QBs as holders .

I feel ya!  After all, he is a local boy who should dream about playing for his home town team who is a legit Super Bowl favorite, right? 
 

Sounds like Martin should be good though. And he’s a few years younger.

First prerequisite to being a Buffalo Bill right now: you better want to be a Buffalo Bill right now!  He don't want us, let him sit on his sofa.

 

I think Martin may be a better choice anyway - 4 years younger, had a better average punt last season.  Said to be very consistent, which is what I want to see because Haack was like a box of chocolates, you never knew when you'd get a nut.

I probably saw all but one or two Broncos games the last couple years. And here's the thing: I don't remember anything special about Sam Martin's punting.

And when you're talking about a punter, that's a good thing. Boring, reliable, adequate - we didn't wind up with a punt god, but we did wind up with something a little better than Matt Haack.
