And blow the PR opportunity to make up for drafting he-who-shall-not-be-named by signing a local pro bowler like everyone said we'd do and are now expecting? They’ll be shoving the Chrisman wedding proposal video down our throats if they claim him. “Look at what a great guy our punter is!” 1 Quote
Doc Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Are any other teams looking for a new punter? The Colts were mentioned but they (jumped the gun and) signed Haack. I haven't heard of them or any other team working out punters. So the Bills should be able to have their pick of the litter. Quote

BillsFanSD Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 If the guy wants to retire instead of relocating to punt for a championship contender for a year, that's cool. I might make the same decision if I were in his shoes. There are other punters out there, and I don't mind rolling the dice on a young guy. That's what we were planning to do anyway. Quote

Makes sense. I also think money plays a role. I don’t think the Bills want to drop $2 million on a punter. 2 Quote

After the Bills win one maybe they get a greater benefit of the doubt about their preseason outlook from UFA's but they are far from a big favorite.......and the AFC this season is shaping up like the toughest conference since the SB era began. It will be very impressive if they win it under these circumstances. But it's not like some years where the favorite is given upwards of 15%-20% chance of winning it by Vegas. Quote
YoloinOhio Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 If they don’t get chrisman via the waiver wire it will come down to Sam Martin (who also wants a ton of money) and those guys they worked out earlier this week I guess. Quote

If that means pony up for Sam Martin, so be it. Whoever it is needs to be in the building today. 1 1 Quote

I couldn’t agree more, but my comment was regarding whether a punter (wealthy or not) would be interested in spending the Fall months in Western New York if it meant a decent shot at bringing home a Ring in February. I’m guessing that any punter would. It’s not playing running back or offensive line. Quote
Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 I wouldn't be shocked if the Colts pick up someone else, cut Haack, and the Bills bring Haack back. 1 Quote

Reid Ferguson said yesterday he didn’t think it would take long for a new punter to get acclimated. Not sure if he’s just being optimistic but he seemed confident. Quote

I find it very odd that the Titans "are encouraging Brett to stay on the ready" in case the rookie does poorly. I mean, seriously, what self-respecting player would say, "Okay, cool, I'll just hang out for a while and be there for you in case the guy you preferred over me ends up sucking." I get that he's made a lot of money and can do that, but still. 1 Quote
