Dumb question.  Why do we care if the punter is a lefty?

Well I don’t care, but the powers that be have shown an affinty for lefties, Bojorquez, Haack and Araiza and they actually pursued Parlady before.

Is this guy better than Kern?

Probably. But also probably more expensive. Interesting dilemma to have, it appears.

Bills lucked into a pretty good season to have to find a punter at this late stage.

Comes off the foot different which hypothetically would make it tougher for return teams to both catch or block if they are always practicing against a righty. Just like in baseball it's just a different look when you are going up against a lefty as it is more rare to see

Go for whoever wants a better deal in terms of cap space between Kern and Martin. Going off the tweet, think it will be the former.

Reckon that means the Broncos are in the Punter market as well, as I'm not sure if they'll want to go into the season with Corliss Waitman.

Between Kern and Martin I'll take the cheaper of the two, so probably Kern. Either way we get an upgrade on Haack and we'll be one of the least frequent punting teams in the NFL. All we end up losing from this whole fiasco is a 6th round pick.

Anyone know how good (or perhaps, bad) either is at holding? That’s probably more important to me…

Kern comes home at 36yo to finish his career and win a Superbowl with his hometown team. Could not be more perfect.

Yup just makes so much sense. Local kid coming home to end his career.

Does the thin air of Colorado have any influence on his numbers?

Spent most of his career with the Lions; has only been with the Broncos for two seasons.

Yard average with the Lions (2013-2018): 46 yards

Yard average with Broncos (2020-2021): 47.1 yards

Brett Kern's average is 46 yards across his career; with the Broncos, between 2008 and 2009, he averaged 46.4 yards.
