Pretty sure that $ amount would only apply if the Bills traded for Kern. He’s a veteran so no waivers : he’d be free to sign anywhere if released.

That’s right. And either he gives the Bills a hometown discount and plays for vet minimum, or he says hell no I don’t want to play in Buffalo, I would rather retire.

I wouldn’t pay more than vet minimum. Guy is walking into an absolute dream scenario. Usage will be minimal, you just got cut by a team that isn’t as good as the Bills, and then the super bowl favorite Bills come calling. Accept Vet minimum or we will move onto the next average punter and offer him the same.
