What has changed in the last 24 hours? It seems like they are suddenly able to get new information now that the backlash has hit and the urgency is there.

Uhhhh… clearly this was a completely HIDDEN omission pre Draft! That’s the difference. Araiza would never have been selected by ANY team, let alone the Bills if this disgusting incident was known!

This team has won 10 straight preseason games and then got shut out tonight. Score almost at will every week and just have nothing to give here. This is a distraction…just get this guy out of here and find another guy that can punt. Can’t and won’t be difficult. Not worth it. Hoping for the best for everyone involved but we don’t need this

He will be gone within the next 3 days. They have to find a punter first.

where did you hear that from??? They have been proven to be over 80% accurate. To call them “WILDY inaccurate “ is a false narrative

I've taken a half dozen polygraph tests and lied throughout and passed. They're easy to fool.

I don't. Because of this thread and how Twitter is, if he comes out and says that, well then, "The Bills think that gang rape is okay."

Because that's exactly what has happened in the last 24+ hours.

Agree with your take.  McD can't say anything that can be construed that he has already made any judgments or conclusions.  It's a no win situation for him and the team until things get played out through the court of law.  I think he's likely angry that he and the team have been put in this situation, especially right before the start of the season.  If it's not possible for Araiza to be placed on a Commissioner's exempt list...similar to what they did with Dodson...it would not surprise me if they let Araiza go to eliminate the distraction and cloud that is hanging over the team.  There's no time to just wait this out.

I just watched McDermott’s press conference after the game, and in my opinion there is ZERO chance Araiza is a member of the Bills going forward. Anyone who watched McD talk and still thinks Araiza, guilty or not, will be apart of this team is crazy. I absolutely hope he is cleared of any charges or accusations, but the Bills are super bowl favorites and there is ZERO chance McD is going to do anything to risk that.  I know the Bills hoped Araiza  was a future hall of famer and game changer. But he will be gone very very soon. McD is obviously disappointed in the background checks and statement done by the organization and that’s what he means by “more work needs to be done” which he stated numerous times. This all sucks because I thought Araiza could be a big part of this franchise going forward, but McD wants NO part of all this. Araiza is gone, I’d bet my life on it.

Yep.

A SB favourite’s HC is not going to go through the entire Season dodging shaded questions and takes about the “idiot punter’s” involvement in a gang rape!
He 100% finds it a useless and unnecessary distraction for the weekly prep time and it’s highly negative effect on the team.

Araiza is GONZO!

Smart players won't touch this with a 40 foot pole.

He was part of the post game interviews and filled in for Ariaza, kind of hard for him to avoid.

Damn, like DAMN.

He seems exhausted, furious, and heartbroken. Some of the ways he didn’t answer a question and his mannerisms were more telling than if he actually said yes or no.

ive been in the wait and see crowd, and 99% because i trust sean and kims judgement. if coach came out and went to war for matt tonight, i woulda been ready to roll with that. the opposite happened, for me now im all set, time to get outta the kitchen.

Personally, that doesn't jive with his first statement. Specifically the part where McDermott says that his "heart and prayers go out to all involved, and that includes Matt..." This came on the heels of the Skurski question about Matt being a great kid.

Is there a chance that the Bills know more information and that Ariza is being slandered and McD is angry at that?

(I'm not saying that's the case)

McD  is a devout Christian. Whatever it may be, its the duty of his faith to have that stance

Just a nightmare situation for a coach. Trying to take the team to the super bowl and your getting asked loaded questions about a young girl being raped. Yes this is bigger than football obviously, but I still feel for mcD. Can't imagine having to get asked about a young woman getting raped on national TV.

really bush league journalists.

I'm not sure they do.

Yeah I don't think that's necessary either. There are plenty of warm bodies out there and there will be more after cut down. Talk Pat McAfee out of retirement. Whatever.

“Constantly” is a stretch.

The polygraph has its uses but it can be defeated and it can be misinterpreted.

You are wrong sir. Law enforcement constantly uses polygraphs to eliminate suspects. It’s not used as a means to create suspects…but often times (constantly) used as a way to eliminate suspects from a pool. They need to pass with flying colors. If Araiza can pass at least two polygraphs from independent administrators (at least one being from the plaintiff) that would prove his case!

we don’t know they took it lightly. They spoke to both attorneys and probably tried the police. What if they know no charges are coming? His attorney seems pretty confident in no charges. If he thought they were coming he’d be saying much different things.

The Bills never spoke with her attorney. He contacted them twice and they completely ignored him, never got back to him.

Their 'thorough' investigation had no input whatsoever from the victim or her attorney.

McD looked like hell. He's a football coach. That's what he's trained to do. It's what he signed up to do. Not deal w/ rape allegations (who would want to? God bless the Police, counselors & professionals that do it everyday). Trying to do the right thing, it's emotionally draining. & He looked drained. Did not want to talk about football, like he hated his job right now. Tough place to be. IMO Araiza will be gone by final cut down.
