It is remarkable how many people immediately assume guilt, and then get upset at people who refuse to do the same and actually wait for facts before deciding.

He evaded every question.

How many times did he say "we have work to do"

Wtf does that even mean ?

Exactly what it sounds like.... what do you want him to do; go all Rex Ryan and start spouting nonsense? He's obviously distressed over the situation, and he is not in any position to take sides due to the potential fallout regardless.

Matt araiza is a rookie punter, he is young and AT BEST put himself in a terrible position and made some dumb decisions that could have derailed his professional career

With that said why are fans/people so upset he might get cut because of this? being cut might be the best out come for the guy

Because he’ll be cut due to the position he plays rather than the actions he has reportedly undertaken. If I could believe a rookie first round QB would be treated the same way I’d more than willingly accept it. So many people saying “he’s just a punter…”

If he mislead the Bills he deserves to be cut. In fairness, my first post yesterday was questioning the front office decision making in cutting Haack and keeping Araiza when this was running in the background. And the front office should have fronted up before now - not released a mess of a statement then throw McDermott to the wolves.

How about a deal?

If anybody is arrested and charged for raping that teenage girl, I toss you out of here.

If a bloodied, bruised, gang-raped teenage girl turns out to be the B word you claim, you can stay.

Deal?

I’m not sticking up for the guy my point is is this happened what a year ago and it didn’t seem to be a big deal… it took the school 7 months before they even launched an investigation and now he’s in the nfl and prolly has a little money and now it’s a big deal… A civil lawsuit…

The PR staff needs to be fired. It is what you pay them for. Get in front. Cut bait early. It's been said by so many, but it is a punter. A rookie at that. Even if he nets 60 yards for his entire career, it is not worth the cancer. Even if they slept on it last night and cut him this morning, we would at least look like we took it seriously.

How dare they send McD out there alone to explain hesitation and incompetence above his pay grade.

I actually feel that part of it might be that they, or someone, saw him as an important player actually - yes a punter but a good one at that. I wonder whether that coloured something somewhere, perhaps together with them not all knowing the full picture or that there were serious grounds.

What in Gods name do you expect the man to say? Get a clue man. You obviously have no idea what it would be like to be in that position. Nor, will you ever hopefully.

The fact that this situation even is ongoing is damaging to the team.

At this point it’s not about guilt or innocence. Its about what’s best for the team. Let the courts decide guilt or innocence. Let the Bills play football. Cut the punter.

He’s def gone. McDermott is beside himself and probably didn’t know. If beane knew and didn’t tell him wonder if that relationship is strained. I don’t know but Beane could be in big trouble here

This is what I thought. Mcd seemed pissed about something deeper than cutting a player.

I think he had a huge debacle to deal with today as well as game prep for a preseason game. So No I don't expect he to be at the top of his chat game in retrospect.  I think he is above all a man of empathy for all involved in this mess. That is why Im proud of him tonight. He's a human being not just a  football coach.

Really? Beane? Come on…parties involved likely lied to the Bills.

My opinion is that the Bills intend to cut this guy. But, they need to go through the league and the NFLPA to make sure they do it properly. McDermott sure looked like he was ready to cut him and leave him in Charlotte.

Speaking for myself I just don’t think it’s worth the distraction. He may eventually clear his name but I’d rather have our HC and team focused on LA instead of having to answer for our punter.
