FireChans Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Giants can save $13M against the cap if they traded him today. Obviously his contract is a BAD one and he had a bad year but Joe Judge and them boys made everyone look bad. He may be the best #3 outside WR in the league though. And the Giants may have to offload him for a 7th rounder in 2028. 5 3 1 1 3 22 Quote

JoPoy88 Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Even if it were a remotely good idea, doesn’t appear they have the room for that against the cap. Quote

ToGoGo Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I always thought he was a great talent, but he may not have his head in the game. Along with the terrible contract and the excellent depth we have, it just doesn't make sense. OBJ makes sense for a 1 year contract and arrives near the trade deadline for a Super Bowl run. He proved last year he can do that. Golladay could backfire. 3 1 Quote

Let them cut him and then sign him for a fraction of that if you want - if not oh well. Don’t let teams off the hook for stupid contracts for below average players. 2 Quote
GunnerBill Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 What would we be on the hook for? In principle, yes, I'm interested. 2 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) lets have 15 WR's who were once good in fantasy Edited August 23, 2022 by Matt_In_NH 1 Quote
ddaryl Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) Why would we want demote Shakir? Who I view as WR3... He showed way to much to think there's an expensive upgrade on the downside that would play better. I would find ways to get Shakir more touches before blowing stupid money or draft picks on what I view as a downgrade. Edited August 23, 2022 by ddaryl 2 1 Quote

While it is true that the Giants would save $13M in cap space this season (despite $8.15M in dead cap), they’d also have to eat another $10.2M in dead cap next season. I have to think that it is worth $2.8M for them to see how he does with the new coaches. Even if he has a bad season, he will have another chance next year with a different QB. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/kenny-golladay-21838/ Edited August 23, 2022 by BarleyNY 2 Quote
PetermansRedemption Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 If you really want another WR, just sign OBJ and then keep one of the WR’s currently on the roster. No need to get Golloday, guy has been horrendous since leaving Detroit. 2 Quote
brianthomas Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 anyone who does fantasy football knows how poorly Kenny G's career has gone in recent times. IF we wanted to pick up a wr, wouldnt OBJ be cheaper from an asset & cost perspective? And with a better pedigree of work, without the injury concern & high price tag? Never against trying to make the roster better but dont think KG is the one for us imho Quote
