BuffaloBill Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 https://www.nfl.com/news/panthers-name-baker-mayfield-as-starting-quarterback-for-2022-season Looks like Darnold’s NFL career is on the downslope. Will be interesting to see in Mayfield plays up to his draft hype and potential in a different setting. Odds are certainly against him. 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 The only thing they will regret from that draft is not taking JA17 #1 overall. Mayfield is at best a good game manager ala Mac Jones. 3 3 Quote

YoloinOhio Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Most important year of Baker’s career. Will either garner him starting job and 2nd contract next year or relegate him to a backup role. 4 5 Quote
Steptide Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 wouldn't be surprised if Darnold ends up here as a backup at some point in the next few years 5 1 3 3 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Will they regret moving on from the hot girl who they dated out of college and who turned out to be a huge pain in the ass? Probably not; but then again the new girl has "issues"... 1 5 2 1 Quote

We all knew he reached his apex in college. Been completely downhill since. Lamar & Josh. Period. So much hype for that class. So little to show, sans Allen & Jackson 1 Quote

mushypeaches Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Independent of the Watson decision, I actually applaud the Browns for recognizing that Baker was never going to be more than a middle tier QB and cutting bait before they just up and gave him a second contract. That's some actual strategic level thinking, and also realizing that despite his #1 draft status, that once you have the guy in the building, he's essentially a sunk cost and you don't waste time and energy throwing good money after bad 1 1 1 Quote

Don Otreply Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) Well, Mayfield I’d better than Darnold, but that’s not saying a lot, as Darnold isn’t good, both will be backups if they want a long ish career in the league, Sam can get started on that real soon…, As to the thread title question, The Browns organization isn’t smart enough to regret any of the moves they make…, Edited August 22, 2022 by Don Otreply Quote
SCBills Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) Probably not. Once they get through this year, Watson has the potential of making them a contender. "Potential"... I'm not sold on Watson without Hopkins and not having played for 2 years. Baker on a low level starter contract could be somewhat intriguing in the NFC, but I think he's good enough that he'll want (and get) and B-level QB contract, which given his limitations is still too much to pay him and then provide the requisite talent around him to be successful. BillsShredder83 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Bakers gunns have a really good year and be candidate for Comeback POTY. 1 Quote

I'm going to say Watsons absence from the game for such a long time will have an affect (or is effect) and he will not return to his prime I just don't see the mental fortitude to handle the endless in your face finger wagging he will experiece.. If he can brush it all off and not be affected, then I think he is devoid of a soul, conscious, and empathy Edited August 22, 2022 by ddaryl 2 Quote

Donuts and Doritos Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) Browns always have too many new mistakes to worry about or dwell on their old mistakes. That's what makes them "a factory of sadness". Edited August 22, 2022 by Donuts and Doritos Quote
TBBills Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I hope the Browns regret lots of things. Piece of ***** organization with a criminal owner. 1 Quote
