Cheektowaga Chad Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 If you're calling plays I think you need to be in the booth. To me it makes more sense He has to trust that his position coaches and players can convey the emotion from the field and info from the sidelines to him in the booth, so that he can combine it with what he is seeing live 1 Quote

Daboll in the booth!" and this reminds me of when everyone was upset that Wade Phillips wouldn't wear a headset. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Upstairs seems to make sense but yet every HC that calls plays - Reid McVeigh Shanahan all do it from the sidelines. Probably doesn't make much difference. Quote
Rc2catch Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Without me ever doing the job I can’t really say. But hey, I’ll gladly volunteer a few hours and try both spots to see what’s best Quote
Warcodered Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Gabe Davis said they'd lock him up in the booth if they had too. I think Dorsey said he'd see how it goes so maybe he tries on the field next preseason game for now he's in the booth. Quote
TBBills Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) In the bathroom. I don't give a ***** if Jimmy "The Whale" is in there. Edited August 13, 2022 by TBBills Quote
Dr.Sack Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 It don’t matter. Just need someone in booth, maybe QB coach. Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Two thoughts... I can't think of a current OC that calls plays from the sidelines however... there are still some HCs that call the offensive plays and they're obviously gonna be on the sidelines. Quote

As mostly you're just calling plays. Assistant coaches interact more with their position players more on game day. Quote

machine gun kelly Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 I had the game on yesterday, but also was doing something else so did anyone see where Dorsey was yesterday. Id guess he’ll try both places in the preseason to figure out what he likes more. I’m guessing his job is a little easier from the booth as you can see patterns from the opposing defense. Quote
