Where this goes beyond the ordinary corruption that periodically crops up among people with too much power, too few morals, and too little accountability is that McGonigal was one of the people investigating Trump over the Russia Hoax, while Deripaska employed Christopher Steele, whose false dossier seeded the Russia Hoax. Strzok eventually ended up at the FBI when President Trump was sworn in. He was a key member of the corrupt Mueller gang and the Trump-Russia collusion scandal. Given that, there appears to have been no justification for the DOJ to pursue charges under the FACE Act against Houck. Remember, the question here wasn’t whether Houck shoved the man. That’s a matter that was dealt with at the local level as it should have been, and no one goes to prison for 11 years for pushing someone. The question was whether Houck violated the FACE Act with his actions, providing the hook for the DOJ to bring federal charges. What makes this situation all the worse, though, is that the punishment was the prosecution. Houck had to spend thousands of dollars and put his life on the line to defend himself from a malicious hit that was only carried out to push the far-left’s radical pro-abortion agenda. Lawfare has become standard fare for the DOJ, and it’s scary stuff. The announcement came with the first day of special counsel Robert Hur on the job at the Justice Department. Hur may find that the Biden legal team feels that “all clear” extends beyond the latest search. It could be challenging to make a criminal case after how the investigation has been handled. At every stage, the FBI has adopted an approach that would compromise or complicate any criminal charge.
