I agree with you, expectations differ according to round.  But also the expectations may differ according to the draft talent.  Seems like the FO wasn't sold on the talent this year.  An RB in round 2 seems a bit of a luxury and they traded down a couple of times before finally doing it.  I lessened my expectations after seeing that.

It would be interesting to know what the expectations of this 3rd rounder are by the FO.  Good teams have lesser need for immediate starters.   And the Bills have stated several times they try to use the draft for the future.

I think you're right about this.   I agree that the FO wasn't really excited about the talent falling to them.

As for 3rd rounders, I think it definitely depends on position.  Third round running backs better play as rookies, somehow.  But third-round linemen, by year two they should be playing a fair amount and in year three they need to show they belong.  AJ, you listening?

AJ was round 2. The number of 2nd round draft picks who barely contribute years 1 AND 2 and then breakout in year 3 isn't 0..... but it isn't very high. Pressure is very much on. I still think he has a higher ceiling than Basham though so I am hoping the light does go on for AJ because otherwise we will get to the draft and have defensive end as a potential position of need, again.

Next year he will be a LB already on the roster with a year’s experience in the system.  I predicted that they’d take a player like that this past draft (because it should have happened a year prior).  It helps whether or not they try to re-sign Edmunds as it gives the team at least a little negotiation leverage.

Agreed

If you are a person who thinks that McKenzie, Crowder or Tavon Austin(LOL) could fill in admirably for Diggs or Davis outside if necessary..............but also shouts down the notion of Taron Johnson playing outside..........you have removed any doubt that you are a football idiot.

I got flamed for this but I think we see it tonight. Benford and Taron are fantastic in Run support, I bet we see them outside with Bernard on the field tonight as well show how versatile our defense can be against run heavy personnel groupings.

I’m probably going to be wrong but what the hell, so pumped for this game.
