A Popular Uprising Against the Elites Has Gone Global:

A popular uprising of working-class people against the elites and their values is underway—and it’s crossing the globe.

There is a growing resistance by the middle and lower classes against what Rob Henderson has coined the “luxury beliefs” of the elites, as everyday folks realize the harm it causes them and their communities.

There were early glimmerings last February, when the Canadian Trucker Convoy pitched working class truck drivers against a “laptop class” demanding ever more restrictive COVID-19 policies. You saw it as well in the victory of Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, who ran on parents’ rights in education and went on to win both suburbs and rural areas. You can see it in the growing support of Hispanic voters for a Republican Party, which increasingly identifies as anti-woke, and pro-working class. And now we’re seeing the latest iteration in the Netherlands in the form of a farmer’s protest against new environmental rulings that will ruin them.

Over 30,000 Dutch farmers have risen in protest against the government in the wake of new nitrogen limits that require farmers to radically curb their nitrogen emissions by up to 70 percent in the next eight years. It would require farmers to use less fertilizer and even to reduce the number of their livestock. While large farming companies have the means to hypothetically meet these goals and can switch to non-nitrogen-based fertilizers, it is impossible for smaller, often family-owned farms. The new environmental regulations are so extreme that they would force many to shutter, including people whose families have been farming for three or four generations. In protest, farmers have been blockading streets and refusing to deliver their products to supermarket chains. It’s been leading to serious shortages of eggs and milk, among other food items.

The revolt against green tyranny has toppled its first government, As farmers’ protests spread across Europe

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Green tyranny has finally provoked mass reactions, and the first government has fallen after imposing insane policies that wrecked the food supply for its people. Both the president and the prime minister of Sri Lanka are resigning in the wake of massive mobs storming and occupying their residences, burning the PM’s private house and refusing to leave the presidential palace until both men are out of office.

(snip)

Farmers in Holland, in open revolt against government plans to destroy their livelihoods by limiting nitrogen application for fertilizer, are tying up that country’s roads and cities. And the revolt is spreading to Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland.

As per the tweet - is it true Germany produces 90% of the NO2 and the Dutch farmers very little?

From 2019:

As the Dutch government tries to comply with a court order to cut nitrogen pollution, (how democratic - but exactly why the left here lost its ***t over the SCOTUS EPA ruling) hundreds of angry farmers hit The Hague in protest.

The country’s highest administrative court in May said government rules for granting construction permits and farming activities that emit large amounts of nitrogen breach EU legislation. Up to 18,000 infrastructure and construction projects have as a result been stalled, including the opening of Lelystad Airport next year. The government is also being advised to cut speed limits to reduce pollution.

But most of the nitrogen that ends up in the environment comes from farms, and they’re being asked to bear the brunt of the costs. Tjeerd de Groot, an MP from the center-left coalition D66 party, proposed reducing nitrogen emissions by halving the country’s livestock population — cutting the number of pigs by 6 million and chickens by 50 million.

That and as they promised.....you will own nothing and be happy - they don't want us to consume anything remotely close to what we were pre Covid

Your grocery stores still being out of stuff - the shrinkflation on everything is not a coincidence.....this is what they want you to eat - especially since they want to kill all the chicken and pigs - we already know they don't want you to eat beef.  Fake beef only because Bill Gates said so:

More "eat zeh bugs":

It's amazing people think environmental issues are part of the elite agenda.  The elite are the ones who can actually avoid environmental issues.  It is the poor that take the brunt of a toxic environment.  The elite have been setting their agenda for couple hundred years, NOT since covid began or Gates was in the picture.  Glad some folks have woken up.

The Federalist is easily the dumbest of all lib trolling publications. Here’s what we have this time: the New York Times and Washington Post are ignoring economy-based protests in places like France. Those damn NY and DC lefties!

And they explain:

“Many of the French protesters took to the streets on May Day for salary increases and against President Emmanuel Macron’s increase of the retirement age. Fifty-four people were reportedly arrested in Paris after some demonstrations turned violent.”

So … it appears that the left-liberal NYT/Wash Post are ignoring SOCIALIST protests against Macron’s old-school REPUBLICAN type reforms like raising the retirement age.

Which would make those papers,

well, conservative I guess.

it doesn’t matter. The Federalist (which started life as a Never Trump pub) knows the B-Mans of the world will just mechanically embed their tweets without ever noticing the illogic.

Sorry.

That second grade approach doesn't work anymore.

Simply dismissing the source as not up to your standards has been used here as a weak response in the 12 years that I have posted.

NO ONE believes that anymore, it is the main street media that has been exposed as useless and unbelievable.

As for your tortured spin about socialists and capitalists, you are missing the point completely, it's almost as if you didn't read the article that you dismissed.

You mention the French protests to attempt (and fail) to support your "logic" and then disregard the next 12 paragraphs.

No matter, the frankish reich's of the world will continue to wear their blinders and regurgitate the state approved message of the day.

Meanwhile............back at the thread..............(Gee, I hope these sources are 'approved' )

I'm afraid The Federalist is "missing the point completely."

It's a garbage write-me-800-words-for-250-bucks linkfest from a garbage "news" site. The writer hyperlinks the term "May Day," apparently oblivious to the fact that May Day is Communist Day. How stupid can they be?

And did you even take a look at the linked article? Obviously not. You just saw the misleading headline and cut-and-pasted away as usual The headline that's supposed to show how liberal US media isn't covering conservative protests? It's about a damn anarchist protest. The antifa of France:

"Black Bloc" anarchists ransacked a McDonald's restaurant on the Place Leon Blum and trashed several real estate agencies, breaking their windows and setting garbage bins on fire. Police responded by firing tear gas.

About 250 rallies were organised in Paris and other cities including Lille, Nantes, Toulouse and Marseille. Overall 116,500 people demonstrated across the country, including 24,000 in the capital, the interior ministry said.

In Paris, trade unionists were joined by political figures - mostly from the left - and climate activists.

EDIT: Oh, no wonder the author of this garbage piece didn't catch the meaning of the May Day refererence:

Beth Whitehead is an intern at The Federalist and a journalism major at Patrick Henry College where she fondly excuses the excess amount of coffee she drinks as an occupational hazard.

You might ask, "what the hell is Patrick Henry College?" Founded in 2000 by home schooling anti-Darwinists:

Teaching faculty must also sign the Statement of Faith and a more detailed Statement of Biblical Worldview, which represents the college's requirements for what should be taught.[15] For example, the Biblical Worldview Applications states, "Any biology, Bible, or other courses at PHC dealing with creation will teach creation from the understanding of Scripture that God's creative work, as described in Genesis 1:1–31, was completed in six twenty-four-hour days."[16]

In 2006, PHC founder Farris commented that the college held the view that its faith was the only true faith ("we believe that there is truth and there is error") and expressed disapproval of religious and social toleration. "Tolerance cannot coexist with liberty" because "the crowd of tolerance wants to ban speech."[17]

Is there an editor at the Federalist to check the work of the college intern from a minor "Christian" creackpot league work? Apparently not.

But quote away! Little Beth Whitehead totally burned the New York Times, didn't she!

THE PROTEST AGAINST THE WORKINGMAN: The Democrats’ green war on the working class.

As some of us have been pointing out ad nauseum, we don’t have a political, partisan divide in the US. We have a class divide that separates college-educated elites from the working class. And the left has become almost completely aligned with those college-educated elites.

How did this happen? Turn on CNN or MSNBC or open the New York Times and you’ll be told that the fault lies with the Democrats’ messaging. ‘Why do Democrats suck at messaging?’, asks Vanity Fair. ‘Do Democrats have a messaging problem?’, asks the New York Times. ‘Yes, Democratic messaging sucks. But it’s harder to fix than you think’, the New Republic explains.

But the real problem isn’t the Democrats’ messaging – it’s their priorities. In fact, their messaging is actually impeccable. It signals very accurately what their values are and, by extension, who they view as their base.

Usually "elite" means "the socially superior part of society"; "the choice part, the cream"; "a group of persons who by virtue of position or education exercise power and influence."

38% of the population over 25 are college grads.

I get references to "Ivy League Elites" or something like that. But really ... nearly 4 in 10 Americans are now "elite?"

And besides, why shouldn't these "elites" exercise more influence? I'm all for a meritocracy. Putting dumb people in charge is dumb.

what? i have a electrical bachelors degree and would keep my mouth shut all day every day when a tradesman with experience is speaking. they shouldn't excercise more influence because a book and piece of paper does not give you any advantage in real world problems. it simply signifies you have the ability to ingest and regurgitate information well and have familiarity with concepts. how well you utilize this ability is individualized. some think the meritocracy is based on this alone. its so common as you say but that also means your getting alot of useless people learning useless things yet still thinking they are somehow more important.

i have no degree in viral science or any experience. take a looksee at my past posts on the topic when the cream and drones were screaming follow the science. i sure is smarts at duh virusing. no economics degree and yet i spoke about the major threat of inflation long ago..check the posts. pretty sad a TON of "dumb" people could see obvious things while those who spent their entire lives dedicated to the subject from the top tier colleges said no issue, er um transitory, er um russia!! this trust had idiots advocating every word they said like it was gospel.

so are the elites stupid or liars? its one or the other and either way should not classify anyone without a degree as anything less or better until you hear their thoughts on the subject. it might suprise you since alot have gotten by without having to pay a institution a huge chunk of money to be given opportunities that they were looked over for. so smart they are pleading "dumb" people to pay off THEIR debt.

That’s kind of a functional definition of “intelligence,” isn’t it?

The discussion started with someone labeling Tucker Carlson as “Ivy League educated.” I said he isn’t. So … why would that matter?

1. We are in a world in which relying on  intelligence testing per se is illegal at worst, considered uncouth at best. So we use proxies for intelligence. One (for now at least) is whether you were admitted to a top college. And it’s a pretty good proxy since the Ivy League schools generally only admit the top 5% of SAT/ACT scorers. (Note: test optional crap may ruin this.) Economist Bryan Caplan puts it this way: Would you rather be admitted to Princeton and have a run of the mill public university education, or would you rather be denied at Princeton and get a superb, world class education at Southeastern Nebraska State College? That is the “signaling” importance of elite education. If I see Harvard on your resume, I immediately think “high IQ.”  Better to just ask the candidate to take an IQ test, but I can’t do that.

2. High IQ — general intelligence, or “G” in the trade, is critical for many (most) important jobs in the non-manual labor sector.

3. Completing college is also a signal — a signal that one has the sticktoitiveness  that is critical to success in many challenging fields of endeavor. We are at an odd moment in history today: a Gates or Zuckerberg can also signal “I’m really smart, look at my Harvard acceptance, but my ideas are so awesome they can’t wait 4 years.” But that’s a modern anomaly that applies to the .01 percent.

4. Many non college educated people are as smart or smarter than those with college educations, or maybe even smarter than those with elite college degrees. But it’s really hard to find that out until someone has a long, long history of sustained excellence. So we use college degrees, and elite college degrees particularly, as a proxy for an extended test run.

i used to say being smart doesn’t correlate with being, say, a good President. I still think this is largely true. But our recent experience with some, umm, “non-smart” Presidents (Bush 43, Trump, Biden) is starting to make me reconsider that opinion. And yes, one of the above has that Ivy League undergrad degree, and one has an Ivy MBA. Hey, I never said it’s a perfect proxy.
