Agreed, the timing is a little odd. The team now has a decent assessment of what talent they have in the WR room more so than any other position due to the nature of OTA’s. Not sure really what this transaction signifies.

Likely the terms of his deal. They might have slightly reduced his yearly cap hit for a longer number of years, is my guess. Puts it in-line with a full time special teams player. They don't have to worry about that spot for a few more years.

there is a June 1st date for cap cuts that affects cuts and dead money. Maybe they were waiting for June 1st to pass, and this was the earliest the 'gentelman's agreement' was made and processed?

Although it seems weird, one thing we have learned again and again is Beane and co do everything for a very specific and calculated purpose, so shout out to Kumerow for being open to it

We definitely need another DB to start the season, imo.  I wonder if there's anyone that Beane is eyeing and this is just about freeing up every last bit of cash to make it happen.
