Might Rather Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 What a great guy! Glad to have him here, he belongs here. He is one of my favorites and I love the way he tells it like it is. 5 Quote
HereComesTheReignAgain Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Dawkins is a genuinely good person to the core. He honestly seems to love helping people and being a good influence. He is a Buffalo treasure and it is just a bonus that he happens to be one hell of a LT. I hope he is a Buffalo lifer. 5 1 Quote
NewEra Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 It’s been a joy watching this young man grow. 2 3 Quote
Conlan58 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Great read. Powerful message, and I love how he refused to publish the name of the POS that caused that heartache. 3 1 1 Quote
RochesterLifer Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Tears. Thanks Dion. With so many likable Bills to choose from, I think I now know what jersey I'm getting to represent. 1 1 Quote
jwhit34 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Dawkins nailed it. Only thing I have to add is what he wrote about is the essence of why when the Bills win the Super Bowl (with this group of players) it will be so special for the team and the Buffalo community. 1 Quote
The Avenger Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Dion may be one of those guys who never really thought about coming to Buffalo, but so embraced the community as home he may never leave - there's a reason some retired players have stayed here and I see Dion being one of those guys... 3 1 Quote
MarlinTheMagician Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Amazing article. That was my neighbourhood when I was little. A long time ago. I am aware of the differences now. But I bet it still has a lot of the same character. Best thing about it then was it was a walking neighbourhood - you didn't need a car. Some people didn't have one. I could picture what Dion said about people walking there for their groceries. We need to get behind contributing Let's prove Dion right about all the wonderful things he said about our community. I will be doing so as soon as leave TwoBillsDrive. May have to get myself of Dawkins jersey, how can we not love that guy? Quote
Buffalo716 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I thank God I am a born and raised Buffalonian It's just different here... We're just different 1 Quote
stevewin Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Good stuff - really enjoy the stuff Dion puts on there. Saw and read the Jamarcus Russell piece there - talk about a contrast Edited June 16, 2022 by stevewin Quote
BuffaloBill Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Powerful writing and very heartfelt. Every person on this board should “hear” what he has to say. You may choose not to agree. You may even strongly dislike it for some reason. You’re entitled to your opinions. At least if you disagree, Dion’s voice is heard. However, nobody should simply ignore this voice. 2 Quote
wjag Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 In a press conference soon after that day, Dawkins took a question from a reporter. They got wind that he went back to the East side and helped a young man celebrate a birthday who was personally impacted by the events of that day. There were no PR announcements made and no cameras were there to record the event. He seemed genuinely surprised that the press found out. He made the statement akin to I just did it because. The man is genuine. 4 Quote
freddyjj Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Blessed to have men like him on this team...living in Buffalo...and in the world today. 2 Quote
Shaw66 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Dawkins' personality really comes out when he writes. It's personal for him. This piece is no exception. He tells us what it feels like to be Black when thinks like this happen. 2 1 Quote

Ol' Jerry Sullivan could learn a thing or two. Quote

I read JaMarcus Russell's, which is interesting, and the writing is much different. 1 Quote
