BuffaloBill Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Fins supposedly had 5 year @ $20MM per year deal ready for Sean Peyton Recall that they were also supposedly hot to trot for Watson and possibly Brady. They ended up with the “splash” of an allegedly better (in OTA’s) Tua and Tyreek Hill. Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Thank you, Bill Belichick & Brian Flores for tanking this deal! 7 Quote
Augie Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 If Rex were an owner, it would probably look a lot like this. 6 4 Quote

Big Turk Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Payton is like "I'm stuck with Tua?? No thanks, I'll just retire" 😂 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Now the Flores firing makes sense. At the time, it seemed to come out of nowhere, because he seemed to be doing a pretty good job there and had the team going in the right direction. Plus they have a QB that is better than Mahomes, so they are set there too. 10 Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Payton would actually be a good fit for Tua as he’s got the same PHYSICAL skill set as Brees. Quote
Captain Hindsight Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Dolphins are the kings of "were going to do this" This just scream Ross trying to cover himself when things go bad. We were gonna have Brady and SP but we ended up Tua and Hill instead 6 minutes ago, ChronicAndKnuckles said: Payton would actually be a good fit for Tua as he’s got the same PHYSICAL skill set as Brees. YoloinOhio Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 So they wanted him and Brady or him and deshaun and ended up with Tua and the Tinder Swindler. 5 Quote

If anybody can get something out of Tua, it would’ve been Payton who transformed Brees from very good to elite. Quote
RobbRiddick Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 How would that have worked anyway? Isn't Payton still under contract with the Saints? They would have had to give up a lot of draft picks Quote

FilthyBeast Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 If true this has to be very awkward for McDaniel (who is a very awkward cat to begin with). Just like all the Tua/Watson chatter last year. But at the end of the day a lot of us are 'Plan B' so to speak even in our professional jobs where the primary candidate declines an offer. Just how things work in life. Quote
Logic Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 All things being equal, I’m glad the Phins wound up with McDaniel/Tua instead of Peyton/Brady. 2 1 Quote

ControllerOfPlanetX Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 They would have been better off with Brees when they had the chance. Quote
