Fins supposedly had 5 year @ $20MM per year deal ready for Sean Peyton

 

Recall that they were also supposedly hot to trot for Watson and possibly Brady.  They ended up with the “splash” of an allegedly better (in OTA’s) Tua and Tyreek Hill.

Now the Flores firing makes sense.

 

At the time, it seemed to come out of nowhere, because he seemed to be doing a pretty good job there and had the team going in the right direction. Plus they have a QB that is better than Mahomes, so they are set there too.

Exactly. I’m just saying they are built similarly. If anybody can get something out of Tua, it would’ve been Payton who transformed Brees from very good to elite.

But at the end of the day a lot of us are 'Plan B' so to speak even in our professional jobs where the primary candidate declines an offer. Just how things work in life.

There also were rumors that when they were trying to trade for Watson, the Phins offered to settle the cases against him for $100k each.
