For that matter........there were no bison in WNY since long before Europeans arrived.

 

Beau Fleuve........beautiful river in french........is the origin of the city of "Buffalo" name.

Technically there are African Buffalo in the USA.  Several zoos and I think wild life preserves have them. They are not native to the continent is what you mean, I guess
