Agree.. used to watch the Sunday Pre-Game back in the day when Chris Berman hosted it , came on at 11 AM.., was all legit , actual , pre-game stuff.. now its a clown show ..

ESPN pushed their own demise by getting away from just sports. The majority of my students know athletes more by their out of sports persona- fashion, food, whatever- than by their actual sports ability. ESPN did not need to cover all the other parts as deeply as they did. Once the other stuff eclipsed 50% of the time I had no use for ESPN.

When ABC had the Indy 500 we were slammed with coverage on the website. Today a fantastic race and it took them over a hour to post even who the winner was. So much for World Wide Leader. I bet so many of the people that left must just laugh at them.

It is the politics - if I want to listen to politics I am not getting on a sports channel, but more so the contrived arguments. It's hard for companies to accept change and transition these days. ESPN has alot of footholds in some sports, NFL isn't one of them, but I couldn't see their college football content going away.

 

The company will have to make major changes and downsize to what they do well to survive. 

 

If I was them I'd sell MNF, it isn't what it used to be.

I never watch in real time.  I still go to the website and occasionally will click a short video clip from time to time.  Had ESPN+ subscription back in the day but cancelled probably 6 years or so ago.

we are all going to get screwed. Rather than 60 or 80 bucks a month for cable, you’ll be paying $15 for Netflix, $15 for ESPN+, $12 for Hulu, $15 for HBO max, etc etc etc. 

 

And of course, it takes way longer to find something you want to watch by switching these streaming services.

I read almost every day at lunch. I go to the book table at Costco and look for stuff I like, then give them to my mom’s retirement place for their library. My shelves have plenty, let others enjoy them. 

 

ESPN is hot garbage. Their shows all have the same formula. A bunch of guys all yelling at the same time. No thanks! Hiring The Booger McFarland to staunchly defend the crack back block call on Cody Ford (which later received an apology letter from the NFL) is indefensible. He’s an insufferable clown, and I’ll avoid the network just on him alone. Mike & Mike was the last decent thing they had. 

 

I haven’t looked in a while, but if you want a real laugh check out their college basketball recruiting. It’s a dumpster fire of indifference and incompetence. They should shut that down completely, because it’s embarrassingly weak and out of date. Less (as in ZERO) would be more, there.
