I thought it was standard protocol now for schools to have security locks on the doors. Good question, though I'm sure plenty of schools don't have them. Ours does, but I see people think they're being polite holding the door open for others all the time, especially end of day when people are coming to pick up their kids. 1 Quote

Andy1 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 How many more must die in mass shootings? Other countries have mental illness too and don’t have children slaughtered in school or people slaughtered in grocery stores. If guns made us safer, we’d be the safest country on earth. 4 1 1 Quote
HappyDays Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I don't know man... I lean conservative on gun control. But does an 18 year old need access to an assault rifle and body armor? I mean it's the same exact story in a matter of 10 days. 4 3 Quote

Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Bad, cowardly, pathetic arguments: Yeah but our mental health is worse in this country Yeah but they'll just use knives and bombs Yeah but bad people will do bad things Yeah but the 2nd amendment 2 2 Quote

You can't buy a beer or a pack of smokes until you're 21, why can you buy guns when you're 18 ? Guns are more important than children in this country. 3 Quote
muppy Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 freakin disgusting..... I lost patience with these events a long time ago....meaning anymore they just make me feel physically sick due to the depravity and unrightousness of it. It's so unacceptable yet keeps happening ad nauseum. DISGUSTING. There are a host of mentally sick people who will ger their 15 seconds of shame and then we wait for the next one you Know its coming....(*(*&&^%$#%^&**((*& 2 Quote

I worry about getting shot at Wegmans, movie theaters, every time I’m waiting to get into a Bills game or a concert. I’m sick of living in fear and I’m scared to send my kids to school. Your entire family is more likely to get struck by lightning. The one common thread with most of these public mass shootings is young males are the shooters. All debate on solutions really should be centered around figuring out why that is. Edited May 25, 2022 by Doc Brown 1 Quote

Yet we have significantly more public mass shootings. Why is that? It's a social epidemic. It's now ingrained in the national consciousness. Back in the 70s and 80s and 90s there were a bunch of copycat serial killers. The modern version of that is mass shooters. A certain type of young angry male decides to go out in what they consider to be a blaze of glory because they know they'll get attention. I'm usually big on attacking the root of a problem but I don't think there's a cure for this particular root. We have to enact policies that make it more difficult for these murderers to carry out their plans. Anyone proposing a one-size-fits-all policy is deluding themselves. If every school in America had security locks where visitors had to be buzzed in today's shooting wouldn't have happened. If kids that made violent threats were blacklisted from gun purchases for a couple years the Tops shooting wouldn't have happened. Etc. Everyone focuses so heavily on one specific version of gun control and the endless debate gets us nowhere. We have to enact a wide range of basic security policies that 99% of people would readily agree with. But instead we choose the political gridlock and rehash the conversation every time another shooting happens. Edited May 25, 2022 by HappyDays 3 Quote

My heart breaks for these kids who won’t fulfill dreams they were too young to even have had yet. No. An 18 YO does not need body armor, or assault weapons like this POS had. Nobody does. Enough is enough. 1 Quote
