Dolphins' Poole expected to miss season

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins could be without Will Poole for the entire 2005 season, after the second-year cornerback tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

According to the Miami Herald, Poole was hurt during practice last week. The Dolphins, though, have yet to confirm the injury.

Poole, a fourth-round pick of Miami in 2004, appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins last season and recorded 37 tackles with one sack. The 23-year-old Southern California product was expected to start at left cornerback this year following Patrick Surtain's trade to Kansas City.

If Poole is indeed done for the year, the Dolphins might be tempted to take a run at free agent veteran Ty Law, who is recovering from a foot injury that cost him the final nine games of last season with the New England Patriots and knocked him out of the playoffs.

The 31-year-old Law had a screw placed in the foot following the season and is expected to be able to work out for teams in June.

I never like to see injuries, but if had to happen to him, I'm glad he's a Stinkin' Fish. That said, Ty Law is going to waste a chunk of some team's salary cap this year. Why not Miami's?
