I thought it was funny that Geno got the game-winner after having played one of the worst games I've ever seen him stumble through.

I was commenting that Malkin looked spent in the first period. By the 3rd OT, he looked like a geriatric out there. Is he still battling an injury?

I know he missed a lot of time earlier but he's been back for a while now so I'm not sure how healthy he really is.

That was literally the first NHL game I've watched this year.

I hate to say it, but I have maybe watched like 5 regular season games this year, if that. The hockey season can be a grind for the casual fans. But I am usually better than that!

Picksburgh as a team looked out of gas since halfway through the 3rd period.  They were extremely fortunate to steal that game. Rangers were skating circles around them.

There were moments when the Rangers looked just as wiped out. All game, the Crosby line tilted the ice in the Pens’ favor and the Panarin line tilted it for NY. I think the other two lines essentially canceled themselves out although the Rangers’ kid line was a bit more effective. If shots mean anything, and they often don’t, the ‘Guins had both more attempted (by a wide margin) and on goal (by 15). Also, the Rangers had 30 more giveaways in the game, 75 to 45. That doesn’t suggest they were a less tired team.

All that said, I agree; the Penguins were fortunate to come out with a win.

Lets go Leafs... I'd like nothing better than Tampa to limp back here down 2 games.

Are you a Sabres fan? If so why root for the Leafs? The Leafs are one of the biggest if not the biggest rival to the Sabres.

Sabres fan first and foremost, born and raised in WNY. However, we didn't have a hockey team until I was 10 so the only hockey we could watch was channel 9 or 11 out of Toronto and that was kind of iffy, messing around with the antenna's a lot. So it was the Leafs who inspired us kids hockey ways... clearing off small ponds or low area's in empty lots so we could play. Our equipment was whatever we could find other than sticks, skates and pucks. Goalie pads were pieces of foam taped to a kids legs, sometimes the actual goal was a big cardboard box, etc. that kind of stuff. We had a blast. Played street hockey in the warm months with the occasional "Car" warning from one of the "goalies".

So, I always have a soft spot for the Leafs if it can't be us. And, we play in a really tough division so its not just the ML's who are an obstacle.

Go Leafs!

Tonight. Lets Go Pens. Actually as an Isles fan I hate both teams but the Pens are the lesser of two evils.

LOL, also an Isles fan. Went to Pens/Rangers a month or so ago and felt the same. Watching the texts between my Ranger fan friends the other night was enjoyable. They are hung up on the refs.

Tonight I'm going Rangers (for an elderly friend, he's been a fan forever) and the Panthers.

Panthers need to get it together during this intermission... not playing to their usual intensity.

Then again, an early Panthers exit gets us a far better pick. 20-something?

I haven't followed the Sabres much this season, really only after the LV game in Buff, so I'm out of the loop on picks. Hell, I'm learning the team all over again... been awhile since they really had my attention.

This Rangers/Pens game is a riot.

I found out if the Panthers lost this series their pick would be #28.

The Draft Lottery is happening Tuesday. Sabres right now are at #9 and Vegas is #16. We have 3 picks in all in the 1st round. Depending on the lottery, the Sabres could end up 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, or 11.

If Vegas somehow won the lottery, they have the option of postponing the pick they owe us to next year, but it would be unprotected.
