You can already see Schoen following the Beane/McDermott blueprint based on their first draft and now predictable moves like this.

 

A lot more pressure though with a franchise like NYG who haven't been to or won a SB since 2011 and not done much playoff wise since then either for that matter.

Buddy was always a trip to listen to for his old school, tough as nails attitude. He described Travis Henrey as "trying to tackle a bowling ball with butcher knives sticking out of it" ... And he always had a snarl goin on with a grin when he spoke. Tough ole bird.

The prank phone where the guy pretended to be the Tampa GM and Buddy bought it............and threw his $10M QB under the bus and then had to release him...........that was one of the Billsiest moments ever.

Yes, they did.   I think at about the same time, too.   They can't fire the college scouting staff before the draft because they know the collegiate players.   I think Modrak and the other management guys got the boot first, and then some/many of the scouts were let go.  IIRC, the Bills added additional scouts.

Nix was pretty good. 

 

His problem was that he couldn't bring in a QB and that when they wanted a coach Ralph was passing and absolutely nobody wanted the job.

 

He built a really good defense, but that meant they never got really high draft picks for a QB.

It's pretty common timing for a new GM finding he isn't satisfied with the group he had.

 

You can't really fire all the scouts when you're hired in January. The guys you bring in will not have coordinated their scouting. Many players will be uncovered. They've missed the college season.
