The team felt the holder was so critical that we kept an 'elite' holder even though he was a poor punter. It's an interesting pick and Araiza is no lock to make the team. i don’t understand why they think the punter has to be the holder. It can be a sure-handed WR (Bob Chandler did it for years) or a backup QB, which used to be pretty common. Quote

Back in those days when teams could practice as long as they wanted pretty much you just got the backup QB or receiver to stay behind and practice with the specialists. Can't do that now. So if you are taking a backup QB or receiver to practice with your ST unit you are taking him away from the offensive gameplan install. It was the punter for all 32 teams last year and that is why. Yup, and it’s such a bummer. You’d definitely think teams would prefer a backup QB doing it, because (a) they’re used to taking shotgun snaps and (b) you have more options to fake with a real thrower back there. Quote

I remember loving that trade down. But I also wanted them to trade down again. EJ was my guy that year (meh), but he obviously wasn’t a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination. I thought we could’ve dropped into the mid 20s and still had our pick of QBs pretty safely. Quote

The NFL Contract negotiators for the collective bargaining agreement obviously don’t consult the coaches before making concessions. Quote
