They lost because they were on the road. 0-4 in the playoffs on the road and 3-0 at home under McDermott. They were on the road because they lost 3 games in a 5 game stretch in the regular season where they scored 15, 10 and 9 points because the OL couldn't block and they didn't have any YAC talent to help Josh Allen get the ball out quick and still make plays. So they had to go into panic mode and use Josh Allen like a RB to slow the opposing pass rush down. After Allen got hurt in Tampa they tried to not let Allen run against Carolina and he got sacked 4 times and the offense labored. Yeah, if you are willing and able to use your franchise QB as a battering ram the offense is fine, though. The divisional game was just the only time ever that two teams coming off 40 point games met in the playoffs. A perfect storm. And had they not pulled their horns in offensively earlier in the second half they win that game in regulation. McD kept thinking his defense was going to make plays. Neither defense could. All credibility is lost. And offensive line was the weakest position without a doubt last season…. It still is one of the weakest positions entering next season. I have a feeling @ScottLaw was being ironic? "Spelt" is British for the past tense of "spell", just as "defence" is the British spelling. Quote
Success Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 The 13 seconds was coaching. The whole GAME was defense - and we saw bad defense at other points in the season, like the Taylor game. We did NOT have a #1 defense last year. Marginal top 10, maybe. And defense wins championships. I support the offseason focus on D completely. 4 Quote

Also, McD has been given many years and really an abundance of resources in terms of signings and high round draft picks to build a D that can come up with a big stop or two and he simply hasn’t done the job. He hasn’t been up to that task or been able to adequately manage a big game and it’s hurt us so badly in both of the last two years. Quote
NewEra Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Coaching ….… partly due to Levi and Dane not being fast enough. Partly due to not communicating properly with the kicker. 2 ridiculous moments and we failed miserably Quote
phypon Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Because of a coin toss. Also, because coaching left the gate of the de"fence" open in the last 13 seconds. If only there were 10 seconds left instead of 13...oh well. Still a sore subject. Although, if we had to not make the big game I'd rather have lost to the Chiefs instead of the Bengals. Could you imaging if we had lost at home to the Bengals? The Bengals!! Dear Lord, the horror! Glad it happened to the Chiefs though. :-) Quote
