MPT Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I agree with the sentiment of the post that our offense has very little need for improvement, but we lost that game because of coaching and nothing else. 1 3 1 1 2 Quote

K D Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Coaching. Any dummy that plays Madden would know to 1) squib it and 2) don't play prevent and take away boundaries when the other team has 2 timeouts left! 1 6 Quote

And offensive line was the weakest position without a doubt last season…. It still is one of the weakest positions entering next season. 1. I’m Canadian 2. The offensive line was a strength in the last quarter of the season and playoffs once Bates was subbed in 2 Quote

You shouldn’t allow a team to match down a field in that amount of time no matter what. That seems like a contradiction. If you're saying the players shouldn't have allowed the Chiefs to go 45 yards in 13 seconds, then you need to look at the defensive play calls. They were intentionally put in position to prevent a touchdown at the expense of 20 yard plays. That's 100% coaching. 1 1 Quote
ToBillsFan Posted April 30, 2022 Author Posted April 30, 2022 Agreed the 13 seconds was a bad coaching decision….BUT the coaches didn’t give up 42 points to the other team Quote

Which is why the Bernard pick with Parham sitting there was so dumb. What a waste. 1 Quote

sven233 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) Because all of a sudden, our entire defensive coaching staff, including our head coach, shoved their collective heads up their butts and failed the team in the biggest moment. Most people on this board......most football fans in general.....could have made decisions that would have closed that game out. It's like our staff took the ideal defensive strategy for that situation and decided to do the exact opposite. It was not on the players. The coaching staff literally stole one should have been one of this franchise's all time greatest moments, and in my opinion this teams first Super Bowl Championship, and flushed it down the toilet. That said, there were other moments in that game where we could have been a bit better. Honestly, it could be as simple as Tre not playing in the game. Not a doubt in my mind we win that game by 2 scores if a healthy Tre is in there. Edited April 30, 2022 by sven233 1 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I believe if we had this current defense with Von Miller, the DT's, hopefully a healthy Tre White and now Elam/Jackson and Johnson all helping out in the secondary we would have won that game. I guess we'll find out soon enough! Quote

Like I said I totally agree the 13 seconds was one of the most bonehead mistakes in coaching history. With that being said the defense played bad all game and in turn did not support Allen and the offense. The game is not down to one 13 second play if the “#1 defense” plays a decent game Edited April 30, 2022 by ToBillsFan Quote
Just Jack Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) 1) 13 seconds 2) they had all three time outs left 3) they had Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill 4) some Bills players and coaches were already celebrating on the sidelines like the game was over 5) they only needed a FG to tie and go to OT. The game is not down to one 13 second play if the “#1 defense” plays a decent game That game showcased two of the best offensive performances in history. The modern NFL is not designed to allow any defense to stop an offense from scoring if they are playing at that level, especially when both defenses are playing without their best players. The only thing you can do is slow them down and manage the clock. Instead, we called two defensive plays that allowed the Chiefs to do exactly what they wanted to do in as little time as possible.
