It's not just the culture- Gators had huge issues on defense and got toasted early and often.

Elam never popped to me the way most of our past 1st round DBs have.

Was actually shocked when they said he was a 1st rd pick.

Look at 2020 season. He had a knee injury and did not play at 100%

Great press zone/man type, with loads of athletic ability.

Let's not forget what happened against KC, getting absolutely toasted by Hill and Kelce.

We had a HUGE need for speed, both at CB and playmakers.  2nd rounder will be a speed guy on offense.

His press ability should stop Kelce from killing us.

The Bills don't draft the highest rated guy on YOUR board.   They take the highest on THEIR board.

The Chiefs stole our guy. We definitely weren’t anticipating that.

should have been jermaine johnson. so much for highest rated player on board.

Some reason for his slide.  Not sure what it is.

People just like to complain. Where was a 4th rounded gonna start on this roster?

Agreed, and there's reasons we will probably never know about why they traded up but I trust beane had a good reason to do it.

Adds two things we were missing at CB, size and speed.  Good enough for me.

Bills continue to hate 4th round picks.

Wasnt gabe davis a 4th round pick?

I really wanted Andrew Booth Jr, had a great feeling about him. I’ll trust McDermott knows CB’s better than me, though, it’s kind of his thing.

I'm sure the Bills doctors didn't clear Booth. He's clearly the superior CB. But the injury concerns...

Those two seasons are over...and bounced out by a team that prioritizes offense.

Lol.

Chiefs 1st round pick was a corner and they traded their #1 WR just a few weeks ago.  Not to mention their first pick last year was a linebacker.

I never heard of him and thought there were others before him, but I remember Tre'davious white being an under the radar pick too.   I trust McDermott's judgement on corners and if he as anywhere near as good as White, than the 4th round pick is worth the trade up.

Get to work Leslie. You better make this kid into a baller.  He’s a nice piece of clay to mold.  But he’s soft.  I hope that changes

I feel underwhelmed since I was sure we were picking Booth. I am gonna trust Beane and McDermott on this one just feels weird.

What I really don't like is that we gave up 4th rounder. I understand the reasoning but for it to make sense we needed to have Elam much higher than any next guy. Something just feels off.

Anyway, since Elam is a Bill now I will root for him. I am going to read through this thread and hopefully there will be enough of you happy with this pick to make me excited.

The cowboys had zero interest in corner we burned a pick for a guy they could have had at 25 anyway just dumb

Doesn’t preclude someone from jumping the Bills and taking the guy they wanted anyway.

Here's something that may hint that Dallas planned to take him. His Dad played for them and Jones likes drafting those types of players.

People pissing and moaning about the 4th have literally no clue who Dallas was taking, but, and this is just an educated guess, I’m assuming the guys getting paid millions to run teams worth billions likely have better information than schmucks on a message board and they were sure if they stayed at 25 they weren’t getting their guy, or else they wouldn’t have done it.  Dallas taking up most of their draft clock says to me Beane was right and they had a bit of a discussion about where to go after that.
