Yep. We've all heard the Cam comparisons for years. Cam was so good he earned the nickname: Superman

Then injuries caught up to him.

I think what happened to Cam should serve as a warning to us. Doesnt matter how super your QB is, u need to protect your franchise qb period.

Either with improving the guys around him or by making sure Allen protects himself out there.

I think we've definitely seen attention paid to both of those

I agree that JA's running style is not sustainable especially if he wants to have a 10+ year career.

With that said, the Cam comparison to JA17 ended for me last year.

JA's passing game is miles ahead of where Cam was after year 4.. and I would even say JA's passing game is ahead of where Cam was at in his MVP year. (Year 5)

The part that gets me giddy (like others) is that a lot of us believe that JA hasn't reached his ceiling.  Compare that back to 2018 and we got asked if we would be overjoyed with a 4000 yard passer, 30 TD's per year guy.. we would have all said 'WE GOOD!'... but we are now looking at JA17... and we want more.

More importantly JA17 is saying he WANTS MORE!

GO BILLS!

Anyone still worried when he scramble every so often?

Hes sliding a lot more now, and if memory serves, all of his injuries over the last four years were in the pocket.

He can handle the occasional scramble. Again he’s much better at sliding now than in 18.

Allen in year 3 against the Raiders was injured while out of the pocket (but looking to pass, not run). Granted he finished the game and didn’t miss any games from the injury, but he was certainly hurt.

It’s crazy that we worry about a guy that’s 6’ 5” and 240 getting hit, yet no one thinks twice about a substantially smaller Singletary taking a pounding on every run. Really makes me appreciate that running backs are a different breed.

well he suffered a concussion miles away from the pocket in 19. The hit vs the raiders that put him in a harness in 20 was definitely outside the pocket. and then last year his foot strain was 30 yards downfield. I"m not here to argue about him running or not running more, just that maybe you have an awful memory.

Well any player who is afraid to get hurt likely ends up hurt with higher frequency than if they just play the game as they know how to play it.  Harder to be a success in any field and in life if your constantly fearful.  Being intelligent and mindful of risks to avoid most injuries is all you can do when you play a sport that is as violent in nature as football.

You don't see baseball players all wearing masked helmets to protect from getting drilled in the head with a line drive hit that could cause serious injury.  Batters do because the higher risk but otherwise as long as they are paying attention their reflexes will usually be sufficient to avoid any major injury though of course there's always risk to any activity.

I have a fear of extreme heights so I'd never go skipping along the edge of the grand canyon for a closer look down  the rim at any point along the canyon.  While a non fearful person is still at risk they are at less risk than myself or any other vertigo sufferers of potential injury due to fear not clouding their judgment, which has a decided effect on the skill in traversing that edge safely.

It also doesn't mean Josh should disregard caution and eliminate a very productive element if his game.  Without his running ability we could probably throw out a good 50% of his WOW plays as even many of his unbelievable passes are end results of his scrambling abilities.  The rest of the team knows not to give up with Josh as QB because they know until the whistle ends a play Josh may finish the play and in unpredictable and indefensible ways.

Always. But that is such a strength of his game. I want to continue to see it.

WTF is “swole”?  Had to look it up:

verb

US dialect form of swollen or swelled (see swell).

"his little foot swole and swole tell his little toes stuck out"

WTF is “tell”?
