I didn’t know we had red helmets in the 70’s.  I thought the red helmets didn’t start until the 90’s.

 

Fergy was my first QB I remember, but only towards the end.  Happy BDay big guy.

Always liked Fergy. Even though he threw a pass to a buddy of mine after a camp practice in Fredonia and wouldn't throw one to me. Most likely because I was a long hair punk. (good read Joe) That same post practice day I wound up sitting on a golf cart having a cigarette with Isiah Robertson. Used to love camp at Fredonia State. ... MANY MANY MORE HAPPY BIRTHDAYS FERGY

Their 'Bermuda Triangle' defense was #1 in the NFL and there is no doubt in my mind that team would have beaten the Raiders in the AFC Championship Game and then the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Chuck Knox was a very underrated coach and team architect.

 

He was a three-time NFL Coach of the Year.

 

He took over a bad Rams team and led them to 5 straight division titles. He took over a bad Buffalo team and led them to consecutive playoff births. He then took over a bad Seattle team and led them to consecutive playoff births in his first two seasons. He had 186 wins, a .558 winning percentage and 11 playoff appearances.

 

The Bills were a clown show before he arrived and reverted back to being a clown show immediately after he left.
