DrDawkinstein Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 IIRC from another recent article, it was the state or city that didn't show up with the funding they promised, so he basically had to send everyone home. They agreed to pay $225m in bonds as part of the deal to secure the project, then after construction began, they back out on the bonds, fail to meet their agreed-upon financing dates, and want Tepper to accept an alternative financing scheme. 1 Quote
Buffalo Boy Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Big topic on local radio today. Not sure how screwing over Rock Hill serves his purpose. I can’t imagine this will make Charlotte want to pledge any money to building a facility here. Quote
boater Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I might be missing something here. But who wants an HQ and training facility 45 minutes from the day game stadium? That would be like putting the Bills HQ in Batavia, and the stadium in Orchard Park. Quote

How did Rock Hill not securing the bonds it promised it would and blowing the funding for the project turn into Tepper screwing people over? Man, I'm the last person that wants to bootlick for billionaires, but this seems pretty straight forward business. 1 minute ago, boater said: I might be missing something here. Bunch of teams with downtown stadiums are like this. Falcons facility is a good hour (sometimes 2 with traffic) away from the stadium. It's why the Bills were going to keep the OP facilities even if they built a downtown stadium. Quote
vincec Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 (edited) The city promised a bunch of infrastructure improvements to make the facility possible then failed to deliver them so I’m not sure what they expected. The team already spent a ton on construction so they really got shafted to be honest. Edited April 19, 2022 by vincec Quote
stuvian Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 signing Baker Mayfield makes this go away 6 Quote

I thinking just off the 77 It's just south of the city right across the border... common for companies who wish to be a "Carolinas" brand to HQ there. I used to work in Pineville, which is in the middle, and was a member of the former Bills Backers at Township Grille in Matthews, NC. Edited April 20, 2022 by EasternOHBillsFan Quote
