Ethan in Cleveland Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I found myself saying "Act like you have been there before" this morning. Was not even in the context of football but it fit the situation. It's one of the better phrases I think. I know it is associated with Barry Sanders just handing the ball to the ref after a TD. Not sure if it predated him or not. What are some of your favorite phrases? PS Yes this is a thread to talk about anything but more mock drafts.... 5 1 Quote
Nextmanup Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 One of my lasting images of Thurman Thomas is him calmly and almost disinterestedly handing the football or tossing it to the official after a touchdown! It was his trademark. George Carlin did a great bit talking about the language of football as juxtaposed against the language of baseball. Hilarious! 4 4 2 6 Quote
glazeduck Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Boom" (but only in the John Madden voice and coming immediately after about 12 muttered, indistinguishable words strung together) "Whoooop" (only Chris Berman style) "Jacked up" (must be screamed by everyone present in the room, in chorus, as loudly as possible, immediately following a massive and obviously illegal hit) 1 Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "It's a game of inches". It just makes me feel better about myself. 1 15 1 1 Quote

BillsfaninSB Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I also love the one about Walt Garrison. “If you need 3 yards, he’ll get you 3 yards. If you need 10 yards, he’ll get you 3 yards”. 3 7 1 Quote

Usually said by someone who's never been there before. My favorite is "3 yards and a cloud of dust" because of the image it invokes. Quote

Stole it from a google search! 😂 Just now, Greg S said: We have a winner. Yeah, that has to be best. Right? I didn't think of that one but that would be my favorite! Quote
