DrDawkinstein Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) Got to see him do stand up live a few times, always killed. What a bummer. Edited April 12, 2022 by DrDawkinstein 5 1 Quote
TheCockSportif Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Sadness. He was so great, and unapologetically funny. Watch The Aristocrats some time on YouTube. He was also amazing in Beverly Hills Cop II. 2 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 Between him, Norm, and Bob Saget it's been a rough few months for some of my favorite comedians. 2 1 4 Quote

Golden*Wheels Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Too soon is the best two words for my man Gilbert. XD 1 1 Quote
The Jokeman Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Old school comedian that got a bad reputation with the thin skin crowd but great at his craft. RIP. 3 Quote
dollars 2 donuts Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 These are getting tough lately. Honestly. It's not just my younger days flying by, but the erasure of those that played a part in my joy from those days. 1 Quote
muppy Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) he had that distinctive voice and timing of great comedians. Lost treasure RIP Edited April 12, 2022 by muppy 1 Quote
Patrick Duffy Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Oh wow!! Hate hearing this. Another one of the greats taken away. RIP Quote

And the thing that absolute sucks, Doc, is that there doesn't appear to be anyone making any new ones on the comedian assembly line lately, either. Side note, for me also goes back to Trevor Moore from The Whitest Kids U Know dying accidentally back in August of last year. Their brand of sketch comedy 10 plus years ago wasn't to everyone's liking but I liked the edginess. Quote
Augie Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Wow! Very sad, and “only” 67 years old. His voice was even more distinctive than his image. You always knew it was him! Very sorry for his loved ones. Quote
RaoulDuke79 Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 His bits on The Stern show during Robin's news always cracked me up. Same with Dice Gottfried. 2 Quote
BringBackFergy Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Hate seeing anyone pass away, but I never enjoyed his loud delivery. Same with Sam Kinnison. Meh. RIP Quote
Logic Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) Noooooooooo. As @DrDawkinstein mentioned, Gilbert, Norm, and Saget were all kind of in the same category of awesomeness when it comes to comedy. I believe they were all pretty close with each other, too. I have so much respect for Gilbert. Among so many other things, I'll always remember the time he tried making 9/11 jokes soon after the attacks at a roast, got mercilessly booed, and pivoted to telling one of the best versions of The Aristocrats joke ever, which absolutely killed. It's always sad when someone who brought a lot of joy into your life passes away. For anyone who believes in an afterlife, the comedy clubs there must have jam-packed lineups every night. Rico Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 RIP Gilbert. So entertaining and funny, I may watch a little stand-up & Problem Child tonight. 2 Quote
Wacka Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 He had a weekly podcast (Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast) where he had on a lot (>400 episodes) of old TV and movie actors, writers and other form old TV and movies. Some of the people he had on were Adam West, Barbara Feldon, Larry Storch, Dick Van *****, Carl Reiner, and Sid and Marty Kroft. He was also a big fan of old monster movies. Could do great imitations of Old Groucho ("Because Chico needed the money"), Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, James Mason, and Jame McGuiver (look him up-you'll know who he was). 3 Quote
PastaJoe Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 I got to know him from his appearances on the Howard Stern show. He was the best at ad-libbing during the news. His impersonations of Bela Legosi, Groucho Marx, Georgie Jessel, and singing in Yiddish were hilarious. Quote
