Longest direct flight was 20 hours, JFK to Beijing. 6 hours on the tarmac while they fixed the plane twice, then had to restock food and drinks before the 14 hours in the air. For years when I lived in DC, my hairstylist was a cute Vietnamese woman named Le. She would go home to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City nowadays) about once or sometimes even twice a year. After a lot of trial and error, she concluded the best, most efficient way to get there was Dulles to Seoul, S. Korea, to Saigon. Total in-air time: 24 hours. A full day in the air! I always remember her story, b/c I have not done one of these Far East long haul flights myself---the thought of it scares me to death. Quote
f0neguy Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 When I was in the Air Force I could catch a “hop” from Athens Greece to Omaha, NE non-stop. Refuel over Nova Scotia, 16-18 hours. 👍 Quote
