This may be a realistic scenario.  There are a number of QB needy teams drafting in the top 20.  If most of those teams pass on one of the top QB prospects in favor of drafing one of the defensive studs, WRs or OTs, they will likely want to try to jump back into the bottom of the first round to grab their QB at a much better value.  By the same token if this scenario occurs, if the Bills don't see the value at their pick (presuming they're targeting CB or WR) they would probably happily move down.

Nope - we do not need additional picks.  Move up from 2nd round and 3rd - even round 1.

Get me 4-5 guys in this draft to fill in.

I don’t need 9-10 picks with this roster.  Get me some talent to grow with.

That’s what I’m talking about ^^^^^

The Falcons are interested in Moss and getting to #25? Where did that come from?

It would likely depend how the board fell for them, whether they would be interested or not...It’s not a trade you would make in advance... And Moss is just a cheap player with potential, still on a rookie deal...

If the top four corners are off the board at #25, here is a potential trade, down the board, that I think would be ideal for our Bills...

Falcons get:

#25 (720)

#89 (145)

Zack Moss

—————-

Total (865)

Bills get:

#43 (470)

#74 (220)

#82 (180)

—————-

Toal (870)

With this trade, the Bills would have 43, 57, 74, and 82 to address CB, WR, OL, and RB if they wanted to...What do you think? Do you like this scenario, given the circumstance?

Edit: Feel free to remove Zack Moss if you want...I just threw him in because we would likely be upgrading from him...👍

The Bills have a strong roster, yes?  They need players who can crack the roster, not be camp fodder. Trade up? For the right guy absolutely. Trade down for more/lower picks? Does not compute.

The picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are technically “lower” than the first round- but they are still in the top half of the draft and would make the team...👍

Unless...you grab a targeted player earlier in the second where you have him valued and then use the additional pick to move further up in the third round.

I love how all these draft day trades always include "and Zack Moss", like it's the cherry on top.

Could a 4th round pick (Gab Davis) make the roster?
Or a 4th round pick like Taron Johnson?

Sure, 4th rounders tend to be should performers.

Honestly, an extra 4th round WR selection could easily push Marquez Stevenson or Isaiah Hodgins off the roster.  Which would improve the roster.

I like the idea of trading back if a value WR or CB is not available at 25.  And I agree that the spot you targeted is generally the sweet spot.  The Colts are another team that could be a potential trade partner at 42 with a good 3rd and possibly an early 5th.  Of course, it goes without saying that you need a motivated team that wants something we don't at 25.

But I agree that it puts us into better value territory for snagging a potentially great WR and a couple of CBs at better value.  I would like us to grab either Chandler Watson or Zac Pierce at WR.  A lot of Mock Drafts have them as 3rd round projections, but they both have size, speed and explosiveness and the overall athletic scores that are at the top percentiles.  Watson is under-valued because he played at North Dakota State and Pierce because he didn't have the production.

I think there will be teams that will recognize this and grab these guys in the second round.  I have my doubts that they even last to 57.  We need an explosive game breaker at WR with speed and size.  I'm not really keen on another little slot guy when you can get speed with size and freak athleticism instead.

Trading back into the low 40's would be a nice spot to grab one of them and maybe get a guy like Darian Kninard at 57 for the interior of the line.  Then use the two 3rd round picks to get at least one corner and possibly a RB or another CB.

But it takes two to tango, so we'll have to see.

Sorry but I think at 43 and 59 we will likely not get a premium corner and overall they will not have enough roster spots for these guys to fill. Bad decision.

I understand that...But that’s why I prefaced this thread with the caveat that we weren’t able to get one of the top 4 corners- hence the trade down...👍

That I would be very much in favor of, a first next year would be a very valuable asset

The FALCONS first rounder? That could bring a king’s ransom! They are not that stupid.

I think, but never hurts to ask someone “are you that stupid?”  OK, that might actually get you hurt, I admit.

Sorry, but there is no guarantee you will get a "premium corner" at 25 either.  There is a strong possibility that they will be tapped by 25.  The issue is how much better is the guy you can get at 25 with the guys that are available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  If the difference does not warrant the value at 25, you trade back if you can.  And you can use the extra 3rd to get a potential starter in this draft, and use your later picks to move around the board in the second and third rounds.

I reject the whole premise I guess. I don’t think the Bills will let us get out of the first round without a corner they want. That’s my thought. 85% of the top 32 corners in the league today are round   1 guys. Everyone else is a crapshoot. If we want a super bowl it’s no choice but CB2.

You have to fill out a 90- man roster and Moss is at least a known entity at RB.  I don't see the point  . Plus, I don't think the Bills need to ADD picks

Of course, just because you DRAFT a guy in the first round doesn't mean that he will be worthy of that pick, especially at 25 or higher.  The value has to be there or you whole premise is faulty from the jump.

I have just checked rosters from last league year for the entire AFC and 1 of the 4 divisions in the NFC so far, and I have only found 14 number 1 picks.  So I'm not at all sure that I'll even find the 27 first round picks which represent the top 32 corners.  And of those 14, there are at least 2 or 3 that are so-so journeymen like Eli Apple who is on his fourth team and now possibly his fifth.

You saw last year what extra picks do.  We lost a guy drafted for IOL depth in Anderson and a DB depth pick in Wildgoose.  Both guys they obviously wanted, but needed time.

Why in the world would we want more picks that have no way to make the roster and are available for teams to grab with no loss.

With a nearly full roster you are just begging for teams to steal your late round picks for nothing.  Use the 5th, 6th round picks to move up and get me the players they want.

Nah, I didn't see what extra picks do.

I saw what extra picks do in one particular situation with one particular set of players.

Why would I want more picks? I would want more picks because they can be used in many ways. One way is indeed to see if they make the roster and if they don't, then put them on the practice squad. They might be grabbed by someone. Or they might not.

But the picks could also be used to trade up this year or to trade for picks next year to help us then.

Teams can steal your picks, but plenty of times they don't get napped at all.

Plus any of those picks might turn out to be better than they expected and make the roster. It happens. In fact, if it's an extra 3rd or 4th or something, he would likely easily make the roster.
