He only had $80 into it, but I’m not sure if that was one or two seats.

It would have to be 2 front row and center seats to make it "ok".

That is actually his style. He gets into private sections and suites with special food and drink, and loves to pay extra for the meet and greets. He goes all out, or he doesn’t go. We all have our hot spots.

Saw Jackson Browne at CMAC this weekend. First time seeing him.  Been listening to his music since the 70s; he writes some beautiful songs and at 73 put on a great show.

Would have preferred seeing him at a more intimate venue. CMAC is a nice venue but the performers were set at the back of the stage, which is deep and huge. Must be for “social distancing” LOL

What I've been doing the past few years at the local outdoor amphitheater is if I think a concert will not sell out, I'll buy the cheapest seats in the pavilion. Then the day of the concert, a few hours before they open the gates, I'll look to see what sections have large numbers of unsold seats.  The staff, once they check your ticket to get into the seating area, don't bother asking to see it again, unless you look lost.  You just need to memorize your new seat number if they do ask.  But I also don't try to get right down in front, I'll stick to the middle sections, the 200's.

Saw Pat Benatar over the weekend at a falls view Casino Avalon Ballroom. Great venue!

Played her top hits, and some others I didn’t know.  Pat can still belt it out! Voice a little raspier with age, but she was great.  Never payed much attention to her guitarist/husband Neil Giraldo, but man can the guy shred!  Dang good guitarist.

Seeing Sammy Hagar and The Circle later this summer.  Can’t wait.  Saw that at Fallsview Casino a few years back and they were incredible.

Not a huge concert summer for me, as I'm still recovering from some health issues, and only feel comfortable seeing shows outdoors.

Dark Star Orchestra in Bend, OR on July 30th.

Seeing a few shows at Edgefield in Portland, Oregon. A great, small, intimate, outdoor venue. Billy Strings in August. Ben Harper in September.

And just grabbed two tickets this morning to see the Trey Anastasio Band in September. I'm not actually a Phish fan at all really, but I've seen Trey play outside of Phish before (once with Dave Matthews, once at the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well shows) and I certainly enjoy his playing, even if I don't enjoy his main day job. The Trey Band seems to have a great horn section and some high quality musicianship overall. I'm rolling the dice on it being an awesome time, despite my non Phish fandom.

I've got about 15 minutes to decide if I want to go to Phish night 2 in Philly.  Bucket list show but not sure I want to drop the cash

Nope, couldn't justify the cost.  Night 1 had songs I would have known.  I figured tonight would be deep tracks.  Not sure why Phish chooses the Mann over bigger venues in the area, probably a combination of respect for the place and much better acoustics.  I'll catch them eventually.  Hoping to catch some shows via a couch tour.

Went to see Sarah Shook and The Disarmers instead.  Highly recommend checking her out if she comes to a venue near you

Thanks for mentioning this.

I've also always felt the same about Phish/Trey, so will definitely check out his new stuff.

Went to see Rod Stewart and Cheap Trick last night in Saratoga Springs.

Cheap Trick sounded great.  They played a few unfamiliar tunes, but still played their classics.  I was shocked at how good Robin Zander's voice sounded.  What struck me as odd was that he never once spoke to the crowd.  Rick Nielsen did all of the talking between songs.  They played for just about an hour ending with The Flame and Surrender.  Good stuff.

Rod Stewart is 77 years old.  His voice, too, sounded surprisingly great.  He gets around the stage really well, too.  No surprises ... played all of everyone's favorites.

At 51, I can confidently say that I was younger than most of the crowd, which was pretty big.

We left before he stopped playing because it started to rain.  It ended up being a torrential downpour, so we made the right call.  We had lawn seats ($25), so there was no shelter to be found.

All in all, a great night of music.  It was my first time seeing either act, so I'm glad I went.  I'm glad the tickets were so cheap, because the drinks were not.  I looked at my account this morning and six seltzers and two bottles of water set me back $120.  That's insane, but what the hell.

Cheap Trick is always a fun show, I've seen them a bunch of times.

I was on a work assignment close to Louisville in the late 80's and checked out Rod there for something to do. Good show, but the best part was the crowd, at least 75% women, most all dressed to kill for better or worse. Most unlike a Steely Dan sausage-fest.

My brother-in-law did something similar at a Jets game. They let anyone into the lower bowl for pre-game warmups. Just before they kicked everyone out he checked stubhub for an open seat.

Oddly this summer in Atlanta there were a large number of younger people in the crowd. Among them some smoking hot younger women. First time I've seen that at a Dan concert.

The Palace is my favorite venue, and they did a great job restoring it. I remember when it didn't look so nice, back in the late '60's.

I'd like to see Sting, @ SPAC, but I refuse to attend any money gouging operation, run by 'Live Nation'.

It’s hilarious to me to see Bruce Springsteen, ‘man of the people’, getting just crushed by his loving fan base for allowing Ticketmaster dynamic pricing for his shows that just went on sale.

I went through the Springsteen ticket experience and said "EFFFF THIS," pretty shortly in.  Ridiculous.

Re: Sting - I saw him at the RPI Fieldhouse (Troy, NY) in 1987 ... good seat cost me $19.

Garth last night at Highmark was phonemial. I'd say it was in the top 10 of concerts I've ever attended.

One of my cousins went and she said the exact same thing.
