And only $182M of it is coming from taxes that people pay.

The money from the Senecas could have been used for something else. It's still $600M in state funds regardless of how fungible moneys are earmarked for political purposes.

Well percentage wise speaking thats not true... the Colts built a 720 million dollar stadium and got like 620 million from the government...

Still not sure why ‘some’ on here find this to be controversial. Either the Bills move downtown and the State, County, and City help build the roads/utility infrastructure…or the Bills stay in OP (where the roads already exist) and the State helps build the actual stadium. Either way, the stadium and the roads belong to the community and the Bills can’t take them with them should the team one day leave. The concrete in the stadium is just dumb concrete. It doesn’t know whether it’s poured into the formwork of a road or a stadium. Relax!

It's about the dollars, not the perCENTS

Exactly.  They walk away from a billion+ dollar monument, awaiting demolition.

Why? First of all, the stadium will be in use for decades. Second, if the Bills walk away, who’s to say there won’t be a new tenant some years in the future? I’m just not getting your huge concern.

100%, the money could be better spent in an ideal world. No argument there. Subsidizing these stadiums feels a bit gross.

We're not LA or NYC. Most NFL cities aren't. But the competition for a "free agent" NFL team would be insane, and "you're rich so you build it yourself" wouldn't seal the Bills staying here. That can work in LA because LA is LA. The money grows on trees for Kroenke in that market due to its sheer size and wealth.

The economics of WNY dictate a much bigger public investment in keeping the team. We all know this. Due to the lease expiring, WNY is competing against other cities that want an NFL team.

That's why I say it and still say it: if you're against this deal then you are in favor of the Bills moving. They don't stay for less, and they don't stay in their current stadium. It's just not going to happen, even if we write books of totally solid arguments for it.

In a way, WNY is paying for it via the Seneca casino revenues that are being used to cover most of the state's portion.

Are we saying the Bills fans could not afford a 20k per seat PSL ?

If not why not ?

That is the going rate for good seats in other stadiums

A "new tenant" for an NFL stadium?

Sure...

I’m not sure how old you are, but the NFL existed long before the Buffalo Bills.

I'm old.

You think Buffalo would get another NFL team to move into that stadium if PSE packed up and left?

Sure…why not? As you yourself said there are very few NFL stadiums in America. It’s a huge asset with a devoted fan base. There are numerous cities that have gone through it over the last many years.

An empty stadium in Buffalo is just a new NFL franchise waiting to happen.

I’m not sure where you’re going with this. It feels like you’re running in circles. First, you think the current Owner got a sweetheart deal by not putting up all the money. Now, you think that the Owner, or any other future Owner, wouldn’t also see that as a great deal? Huh?

It's far easier for an NFL owner to demand and get a new stadium from his current town than to simply move his team  into another public stadium in another town.

The owners as a group don't vote on public stadium financing.  They do decide what city gets a new team.  That decision these days more than any, depends on the money that team will bring the group.  For that reason it's hard to imagine Buffalo would entice an existing team to move there into a stadium that's what...20+ years old at that time?  Or that the NFL owners would even consider it.
