I am so confused by your post.  So are we to keep poking fun at the situation bc we all could use a good laugh right now, or just let it go because Will Smith is sad?  Also what does “ad infinitum” and “whipty doodle doo” mean?

The Latin phrase is to talk about over and over again.

Whipty doodle doo is a quote from a rooster who doesn't like to say the word c.ock.

Everything about it seems fake to me. From the reactions to the joke, reactions to the slap and even the way Chris Rock stood there like he was expecting Will to slap him. He leaned forward and kind of like offered his face. Plus it's Hollywood. Not buying it.

I agree it looked fake for the reasons you mentioned (I don't think Smith even made contact with Rock).  But why Smith would agree to participate in it and kill his career destroys that theory in my mind.
