Why is it that their posts always seem to be about bodily secretions and/or pedophilia? What is going on in North Carolina?

Washington — Justice Clarence Thomas has formally disclosed two trips he took with Republican megadonor Harlan Crow in 2019, according to his financial disclosure report for 2023 that was publicly released Friday.

The report, which was filed by Thomas on May 15, included an amendment to his disclosure form for 2019 to list two trips he took with Crow in July of that year. The first, to Bali, lists Thomas as a guest of Harlan and Kathy Crow. The justice reported receiving food and lodging at a hotel.

The second trip, to Monte Rio, California, across three days in July 2019, again lists Thomas as a guest of Crow's. He said he received food and lodging at a private club.

The information was "inadvertently omitted at the time of filing," according to Thomas' latest annual disclosure form. It notes that the justice "sought and received guidance from his accountant and ethics counsel" when preparing his report for 2023.

Try to imagine for a second if any liberal justice was accepting massive "gifts" from George Soros, AND their spouse(s) was a devout coup supporter.  Their heads would EXPLODE.  He's not conflicted, though.

What’s your personal stance here, Daz.  SC justices have received massive advances from corporate America (this article details a near million dollar payout for Justice Jackson), free tickets to premier venues of billionaire artists, gifted artwork, free travel/lodging/meals and substantial payouts by universities—and this article involves no significant deep dive into the true financial picture of any justice on the court.  Why does Justice Thomas in particular earn your scorn here?

Who cares?  He is and will be a SCJ until he dies/decides to retire.

I try and use these opportunities to understand where people are coming from.  Daz at least acknowledges the political aspects of some of these matters, which is half the battle.    Others tend to take the road of “I don’t want to talk about THAT!”, which is convenient but ultimately part of the problem.

In this case, Daz points out that “housing and lodging” for a SC justice is evidence of a conflict, so I’m wondering $900k from a corporation is potentially problematic for a judge he might be fond of.  Or, a $12k freebie from Ticketmaster/Beyoncé.

What seems clear to me is that with all the discussion on conflicts and conflicted people, while we mere mortals might debate, the Justices seem perfectly comfortable with everything that goes on.

Because he lied about it.  Same problem I have with Alito.  The highest justices in the land shouldn't be bold-faced liars.  "Inadvertently omitted???".  It seems that Alito's letter to Congress was also not truthful as well.

So, the massive amounts of money paid to SC justices from corporations isn’t the issue, it’s the paperwork?

The only pretend smoke associated with this imaginary fire is from outside the chambers.

That's yet another issue.
