First thing I thought of when we signed him was all the Edmunds haters will come out and talk about the missed tackle when they were up 21-3.

Never underestimate the ability of some posters to turn any thread into an "Edmunds sucks" thread...

Pretty sure he had a huge shoulder injury but ya it was pathetic tackle I don’t need to watch I remember it clearly

I believe that play was what resulted in the shoulder injury...and another Upper body injury... A Bruised Ego

Top 51 applies only from the opening of the league year through the opening of regular season.  At the beginning of the season all salaries have to fit under the cap.  Clearly, the Bills have plans to do this and are way ahead of any of us fans in terms of how. It just seems wild that the Bills continue to make signings that are relatively large numbers when by their own admission “they are right up against the cap.”

I think a lot of this is probably just coach/GM 'speak'. They obviously have a number and know it but it's probably fluid and they don't want to get pinned down when asked. They are so buttoned down that most if not all of their signings have been a surprise to the fans. None of these seem to have been leaked prior to happening.

Watch the video.  Sometimes it’s just too easy.

I saw it when it happened. It was a missed tackle. Doesn't change my point.

Personally I think Kyler Gordon is better than both. But I think those three all likely to factor into the thinking.

I would be fine with either Gordon or McDuffie at 25 but I would not be thrilled with Elam. I think he is more of a 2nd Round value. JMO

Lots of one year deals for these players beane brought in.

Gonna have some big cap hits next year with Allen and Miller. Roughly $58M or so for just those two players next year compared to only $21M this year for both.

My point was about the video.  If you watched it and it wasn’t the first thing that popped out then you’re as blinded as the Edmunds haters.

I already was aware of it from when it happened. There was a lot of discussion about it at that time (and after) and I was very critical of it. The fact that I didn't feel the need to make a point about it in a thread about Crowder doesn't make me blinded to Edmunds' faults...

I agree with you. I think Elam is a little stiff in his movements, not a great tackler in run support and I worry a bit about his discipline once you ask him to play off coverage. He is at his best up in the face of the receiver. I think if the Bills wanted him (not sure he is as good of a scheme fit as the two Washington kids) the smart play would be to slide back 10-12 spots.

Re: Diggs, when this contract is up, do we let him hit the market.

Jefferson is 23, and on a rookie contract

Chase is 22, on a rookie contract

Lamb is 23 on a rookie contract

Davis is 23 on a rookie contract

Higgins is 23 on a rookie contract

Waddle is 23 on a rookie contract

Seeing a pattern here

I don't see how we will be able to afford him at an $18M cap hit at the age of 30 and when we will have to pay Allen and Miller big money. A time when WR production typically starts to decline. That said, we may be able to work some magic with a 2 or 3 year extension and get his 2023 cap hit down below $10M. His dead cap would only be $4M for 2023 so he would absolutely be a cut candidate from a balance sheet perspective. A lot would depend on how he does this year and how Davis looks.

Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Crowder, Kumarov…seems to be the order to me.

McKenzie is still a big mystery. I'd pencil Crowder in as the #3 for now based on his experience. I expect a big jump in snaps for McKenzie but I think Crowder will probably out snap him over the course of the entire season if he stays healthy.

I think Crowder will go into camp as the starter, but that is a genuine position battle IMO.

Dude, the Crowder highlight video was posted so I watched it.  The Edmunds missed tackle jumped off the video. It was Crowder’s only highlight where he broke a tackle and took it to the house.  The Edmunds’ apologists are probably more annoying than his haters at this point.

A few highlights from Crowder

Kind of reinforces my impression of him. Very effective slot guy, very sharp on his cuts as evidenced by the number of defensive players falling over themselves at the top of his routes. First down machine. If the Bills get the Crowder who plays against the Bills they lose nothing in the slot from 2020 and upgrade over 2021.

I definitely think they go CB in Rd 1. After that who knows. Corner is the biggest concern/priority for this team.

Who’s the RG protecting our franchise 17?  That’s currently our biggest need imo.  Yes, corner is a HUGE need….but it means nothing if josh allen is injured

Another good compilation. Apart from the punt-catching and defenders falling, look at the separation he gains at the top of the routes. That’s what the guy with “uncoverable inside 10 yards” comment pages back was alluding to.

The question will be, will he and Allen read zones the way Allen and Beasley did, that would be nearly unstoppable. Crowder always destroyed man coverage like Beasley never did.
