Titans and Colts both play the AFC west which is the tough division on paper.  But nobody wants to play either of these teams.

Both have good HC's.  Both play good defense - run and pass.  Both run the ball exceptionally well.  Both have tough matchup WR's.  They also get 4 games each against Houston and Jax.  That can help prop the record up.

I see it as Division winners:

Buffalo

Baltimore

KC

Tenn

Wildcard:

Los Angeles

Indy

Cleveland

The Colts are on their 5th starting QB in 5 years.  They're treating the starter's job like the Bills have started to treat the backup QB spot-bring in a different veteran for a year.  I suspect as long as the Bills Super Bowl window is wide open this trend will continue for the Bills.  There's no need to spend draft capital on a rookie backup QB who would never be ready to start & won't really be able to develop into a reliable backup behind Josh.

One could argue the way to approach the backup QB spot during the super bowl window would be the opposite, draft a young, cheap cost controlled backup to hold the roster spot for the next few years. Figure either way, if Josh goes down your screwed. Might as well put the cheapest body you can at the position and use the cap elsewhere.

Matt Ryan is a HUGE upgrade from Wentz. That makes them a scary contender as long as their line holds up.  AFC is stacked right now..

Tannehill vs Ryan vs Lawrence vs Mills ... Definitely gives the Colts decent odds to compete for the Division title now..

As a matt ryan owner in fantasy football (yeah my team is trash) this is the best place he could of ended up, hes still a solid QB

I agree! With protection and probably the leagues second best run game.  (Imagine him in TN  with Their weapons is the only better spot.)

When we played the Falcons this last year I was like “Wow the difference between our Josh and this other supposed franchise quarterback is stark.” Reich should be able to get them to 10-11 wins with Ryan nonetheless. He’s better that what they’ve had.

Matt Ryan hasn’t been a top 10 QB since 2018. The past three seasons while he hasn’t been bad, he hasn’t been all that great either. Granted the Falcons haven’t put an elite team around him and they have been bad defensively for the past 4-5 seasons. But Ryan’s play has also gone from top 10-5 QB to an average QB at best. I think the Colts did the best they could with the given circumstances (not having a 1st and not being able to trade for Watson).

The Colts have an elite team so they should be very competitive with average QB play but in the playoffs going up against stacked teams with more dynamic QB's will lead to an early exit.

Not every injury is season-ending.

If your starter goes down for 3-4 weeks, you want an experienced guy who (hopefully) still gives you a chance.

Mitch Trubisky and Case Keenum aren't franchise QBs, and unlikely to lead a Super Bowl run.

But if you need them for a month to stay in contention, they could probably still win 50-60% of their games.

You can't say that about a cheap undrafted free agent.

Indianapolis where washed up franchise QBs go to die.

unfortunately.

but based on the “lack of Star talent” at QB in the draft

losing out on Mitch and Watson

Mariota to ATL s/b ok

A veteran like Keenum can win us a game or 2 if Josh has a minor injury that keeps him out less than a month, a rookie or a developmental QB might not be able to do that.  Those games could be the difference between home field advanyage & going on the road.  As long as we're a Super Bowl contender, I like having a backup QB who has starting experience.

Ryan can still carve up a defense if he is sitting behind a good line....and they've got a pretty good one.  They need another tackle...watch them swoop in now on Armstead.

How stupid do the Washington foreskins feel right now with what they gave up for Wentz? :lol: Indy just got Matt Ryan for a single 3rd Round pick.

Not stupid at all.  Washington is hoping for a long term answer with Wentz.  Wentz is 29, Ryan will soon be 37.  Indy already knows they have to have a Ryan succession plan on the day he arrives, Washington has hopes they can bring out the best in Wentz.

Indy is not a great front office-they gave up multiple picks including this year's #1 for a year of Carson Wentz & some lower picks from Washington.

This really only hurts the Titans. So many better teams and QBs in the AFC.

At least for the first year Matt Ryan will be good and even rejuvenated.
