Who do you think Bills pick first in the draft and why do you think that player?

Pick: If G Zion Johnson (preference) or G Kenyon Green are there at 25, I think that is the pick.

Why: They need to start investing in young talent along the interior of the line. Johnson nor Green will make it out of the first round.

I wouldn't be upset with WR, but I prefer a guard (Zion Johnson or Kenyon Green). I think they need to look for a good slot receiver, but I think someone like John Metchie will be there for them in the second round. Johnson or Green won't.

If...and I stress IF this list is true, because I have no idea if it is, and they don't list their sources for this information....

Then it shows that the Bills are thinking WR, CB, and OG with their first round pick. It seems reasonable based on this visit list, as well as what we all know the top roster needs are, that whichever player they view as "BPA" among this list, that still happens to be on the board, will be their pick.

Agree....if we lose Bates, it will be Green or Johnson. And if Bates stays, we probably go Booth (if he falls) or McDuffie.  Having 2 olineman on a rookie deal would be very helpful.

Looking at this list, it’s interesting that every one of the wide receivers on this list is viewed as a first round pick. Most of the corners are too, but I’ve also seen kyler Gordon and mccreary as second rounders. I’m fact, mccreary just dropped out of Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 prospects after the combine. Thompson is a mid round projection.

If this list is true and it’s not a guard, then I expect it to be WR. There aren’t any prospects that will probably be around after the first. Plus, McD is a wizard at developing DBs, so guys like Gordon, mccreary, or Thompson make sense later on.

It'll be CB or WR. Leaning towards Corner, as I feel there's a bigger drop off there after Round 1. I think it will be either Andrew Booth or Trent McDuffie at Corner or Jameson Williams or Chris Olave at WR.

Would much rather have Dotson than olave. Dotson has better hands and isn’t afraid of traffic.

No he didn’t! We need three CBs right now….If we were to sign a starter we could draft a WR first and a corner second (and another later). In fact, we always have a clear need. QB, DT, DE, DE and because of this we may have drafted sub-optimal DEs, we don’t know yet…. But that’s a complete fallacy that he always lets us go BPA….

This year it’s CB (right now.)

Other than joking about Olof I led with we need a CB. No? I think that shows I think we have a need there. Pretty sure. May have drafted sub-optimal DE's?!? They were rookies behind established vets. I love how Beane does that. I hate counting on rookies to be a stud right away. You know what I hate more. People dismissing rookies as scrubs. Josh wasn't all that his rookie year, but he developed. What a concept. One more thing. Show me where I said Beane ALWAYS let's us go BPA. This thread is about the upcoming draft. Hold on while I read the title of this thread again...yep this year's draft. So I said he put us in position to draft BPA. This year. Holy 💩

ALL THAT WAS MISSING FROM YOUR RESPONSE WAS TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

My guess is CB, don’t really know which one will be available but maybe McDuffie or Gordon. We are due to draft a CB and my hunch is that they’ll take one early.

I want to believe that Treylon Burks might be an option, but they also like to wait on WR. I would be surprised if they went WR in round 1 but I’m all for it.

RB, absolutely not in round 1 but maybe round 2 we look at Walker, Spiller, Hall in that order.

More than likely smoke screen. We only took one player on our tracker list last year and way late in the game.

I really need to see how the rest of free agency plays out.

If they sign a viable veteran CB like Bryce Callahan or Joe Haden, I think they’ll take a WR in the first (Olave, Williams, or Dotson. Gun to my head, I’ll say Dotson).

If they sign a viable WR like Jamison Crowder, I think they’ll take a CB in the first (McDuffie, Booth, Elam. Gun to my head? Booth…if he’s there).

If they sign both a CB and WR or neither, then I think they’ll pick whichever CB or WR is highest on their board. One way or another, I think CB and WR will be the first two picks, followed by an interior lineman.

Callahan huh?  Isn’t he a little small to be on the outside?  I’d rather someone bigger, I think Callahan is best inside. I’d like Haden, but I think it’ll be Bradberry. Can’t see the giants being able to trade him

Agreed about Callahan. I only mentioned him because the pickins are getting slim at CB at the moment, particularly with Beane admitting that he’s employing a “hey, please come play for below market value and get a ring!” technique at this point.

A bigger outside guy would certainly be better. Had Steven Nelson signed anywhere? Personally I’ve been hoping for two years now that they’d acquire Josh Jackson from Green Bay, who was badly miscast in their man-heavy system but who I think would be great in our defense.

Fairly certain Nelson is still available.  Seems like I haven’t seen jackson play in years.  Was hoping we could snag Casey Hayward but he’s in atl now for 2-11M.  All signs point to Bradberry.  I don’t think anyone will be trading for him and I don’t think the giants will keep him.  Dunno what his price tag would be.  I’ll take a 1 year deal.  He wasn’t very good last year so it’ll be best to give him one year guaranteed and that’s all imo

I just think considering their defensive background with McD they’ll go defense over offense in the first round as they’ve done in every draft except when they drafted Allen…. At some point I hope that philosophy changes and they finally start stacking the offense. Maybe they prove me wrong…. Have to see how the rest of FA plays out.

To be fair, though...

the Bills STILL drafted defense in the first round even in Allen's year.

Just food for thought… it was highly speculated that we were taking Clemson RB Travis Etienne with our 1st Round pick last year until Jacksonville made a trade during the draft and acquired pick 25 and selected him.  Even Etienne said he thought he was going to be a Buffalo Bill.

I agree -with 1 caveat, trade the pick for an established CB or WR (if there’s a few Pennie’s left to be found at OBD).

My gut says Bills trade down a few spots and get extras picks. Those get swapped for BPA after they draft a DB.

They already have 8 picks. Do they really need more? Are you talking about trading down once, then moving back up a couple times ( but not back up to 25)?

Exactly.  Moving around in rounds 2 and 3.

Zion Johnson.  As much as I’d love a RB or WR here- keeping Josh protected is paramount.  If we don’t take Johnson at 25, Tennessee or Tampa will at 26 or 27.

especially if Bates leaves, and almost definitely if we sign Bradberry

I’m very excited that they met with Araiza
