Ahh...the wistful Doug Whaley nostalgia..

He was a bum.  Ran from responsibility.  McBeane gutted his life's work on the Bills, rebuilt them  and presto....SB contenders...

He’s swroous, alright.

Yeah, I can't even explain that. It is so bad I'm going to leave it be for all to laugh at.

Whaley did a great job. Without him, we wouldn't have a GM the quality of Beane. I'd be asking him how he managed it too.

My buddy is a Steelers fan and is high on him. I guess Whaley has a talk radio

show in Pittsburgh and it is really popular.

We should start a pool on how long that lasts if he becomes GM.

I mean, I guess if McDaniel gets a 2nd chance, why shouldn't Whaley?

But on behalf of the Steelers fan neighbor I try to torture by teaching her parrots to sing the Shout! song,

The Shout! song is a prank, Whaley as the GM of her fan team would be just Too Cruel

Whaley could identify talent, he didn’t know how to build a cohesive roster. If he has that figured out he could be a serious candidate

This.  He was really good at getting valuable free agents.

Doug Whaley is a Pro Personnel guy only.  Anything more wide-ranging is beyond his skillset, as he proved in Buffalo.  Dude was a witch at procuring good-quality low-cost free agents, but a disaster in the draft.

I was a big Whaley believer.  But ultimately, you really can't do anything w/out a true franchise QB.

I'm really grateful for this time right now. Allen makes everything possible.  We had to wait a long time between Kelly & Allen, so I'm going to appreciate every second while JA is a Bill.

Whaley still eating lunch for free here at TBD off of Hughes, Incognito and Lorax....

His roster was the one McD got to the playoffs with, let’s not act like he didn’t put together a good roster.  He missed on a WB which is debated if he had a call on.   His track record was not nearly what people make it out to be.  I think he had a better D built than we have now if we are being honest.

I didn't mind some of the moves he made, but he wasn't as consistent or methodical as Beane. Didn't care for his personality at times, wither. Still seems like a good fit for Pittsburgh.

That Hughes trade was righteous.

It’s not that he wasn’t methodical…he just had no idea how to build a team.  Some of his picks were ok, but his strength was mostly pro personnel.

I don’t think you want Whaley as GM

Saw the video the Bills put out when they hired McDermott when he arrived at the facility and was shown around. McDermott was in a suit, Whaley was in sweats.

You've never seen Brandon Beane in sweats? Of all the things you could single out Whaley for, that's what you pick? Generally speaking, he was an extremely sharp dresser during his time here.

I just said the same thing… he’s not a GM though he could be a good pro personnel guy.  OBD was extremely disorganized under his watch

He was also very disorganized and had no clue how to build a roster.  He is not suited to be GM

Not really..:he was good at signing undervalued Free Agents

Something tells me he doesn’t have that figured out
