He’s just as good a player with less success in the win loss column IMO… The Browns were a good team in 2020 before Mayfield ***** the bed last season.

Browns fans know the best. They have put p with BS for as long as we have, they are coming to be Bills fans according to this web site. Watson is no guarantee.

We shall see. I don't think he is.

I don’t either. I’m not sure he is top 5 in the AFC

Allen, Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow, Wilson, Jackson then Watson? Carr could be better too with Adams and McDaniels

I’m not sure Cleveland wins the division with a healthy ravens and bengals and a Steelers team with a competent passing game

Because of Watsons actions … Not because he sucks at football. He’s a top 5 QB in the league.

He is what he did until he atones.

Huh? I’m talking about him on the football field.

He’s better than Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, and Wilson at this point IMO….assuming he plays like he did prior to the allegations.

Ah yes, he is a true honorable leader of men. Team mates will really follow him....

Right.

I'll preface this by saying I believe accused people deserve their day in court, and we just have the lawsuits so far.  There may be evidence on both sides, exculpatory and incriminating.

BUT suspending that temporarily and taking the accounts in the suits plus the additional (not part of the lawsuit) Vrentas SI article at face value....

...we have a young, handsome, wealthy famous athlete who could pretty much walk into a bar and choose any "cruising" or unattached woman to take home for a casual encounter

...he could hire any number of professional escort or sex worker of any appearance and attributes to provide any consensual services he wanted

...most pro athletes get massages from a small number of skilled therapists they work with regularly, and treat those therapists with respect to remain clients - because that assures the best chance they will get the therapeutic results they need to keep their "business" in peak condition, from someone who knows them.

At very best, Watson was clearly seeking out large numbers of massage therapists, some of whom seem to have been less experienced or trained in working with athletes, and behaved in such a way that 22 of them joined a lawsuit (with all the disruption and negative social media attention that brings down on them).  And it begs the question "why"?

The simple, Occam's Razor explanation seems to me, that what Watson was looking for, wasn't something he could in fact obtain from a consensual encounter.

IMO this shows how desperate the Browns were.  That team is stacked on D and O and if Watson plays to his potential they will win the North. The question is will Watson be punished by the NFL?

He’s still innocent until proven guilty in the USA.

Maybe I’m a Buffalonian who has stereotypes about how they do things in Texas, but the Houston ownership and Tony Buzbee seemed out to destroy Watson’s career in a very old fashioned way.

how funny / sad will it be when he is suspended by the NFL and all the guys that signed there are stuck with Jacoby Myers as the QB...

The WR on the Patriots?

The Browns role as lovable loser is long gone.  Their all time face of the franchise, Jim Brown, is a rapist.  They erected a statue of him outside the stadium.  Their current face of the franchise is a sexual predator.  They just made him one of the highest paid players in league history and structured his deal in a way that allows him to avoid significant losses if he is suspended.  Have the Browns taken the dirtbag title from the Chiefs?!

This is the stupidest contract in the history of sports. I don't care how good Watson is, how do you guarantee all that money (even WITHOUT all the allegations against him) for a guy who hasn't played in a year? Factor in the legal mess, and it's just a disaster waiting to happen. Glad it wasn't us! I feel so sorry for Cleveland fans.

This. Not only are they guaranteeing him Mahomes/Allen type of money (and still think he's not close to being in the same class), they are basically saying they don't give a ***** about the allegations or any pending suspensions.

Also remember this is a guy that signed a guaranteed contract already with another team and decided he didn't want to play for them anymore (likely because of said allegations and because that team was entering a full blown rebuilding mode).

Funny too how Watson magically changed his mind about going to Cleveland once the contract became 'guaranteed' because obviously other teams were smart of enough to want contingencies.

Either way karma has a way of sorting itself out and don't be surprised if he tears an ACL especially after not playing football in so long by the time he sees the field again.

This deal will be good for us.  Now the Ravens will be forced to pay 50+M for Lamar....It will hamstring their cap situation.   Similarly for Burrows and may be even Tannehill.

I hope they suspend him next season when his base salary is $46M, versus this season when it's only $1M.

This is truly messed up. The NFL shouldn't allow this. If you can't punish anyone anymore what's the point.
