I didn’t realize Patrick Peterson and stephon Gilmore are both 31 years old, I think if we could get Peterson for a decent price I’d definitely love to see him on our team!! He still has some good football left!

Agreed.  I have faith that he has a plan and the OL will get taken care of.  I love pretty much everything else we’ve done.  I like the Duke Johnson add more and more. Great hands and is tough.  Crowder is a great fit in the slot to pair with Isaiah.  Diggs and Davis outside and add another outside guy in rd 1-3.  Davis was a 4th rd guy….and we have josh allen, who will make almost anyone we draft into a beast.  Oj was the best possible TE2 add we could get in FA imo.  And our DL is now big, strong, tough and has attitude and the best vet in the league that can help the kids and destroy Super Bowls.  Considering the 2.5M we had in room….I couldn’t be happier.

He’s an upgrade in the run game and not so sure about in pass protection.  Gonna have to watch him more in depth. Haven’t watched any tape.  Everything I’ve read and seen on YouTube says that he’s been bad in pass protection the last 2 years.

Ahmad Gardner Cincinnati

Derek Stingley LSU

Andrew Booth Clemson

Trent McDuffie Washington

Kaiir Elam Florida

 

These are the consensus top 5 guys from most people. 
 

Gardner we have zero shot at unless we trade up. Stingley probably the same. Though I have heard he is slipping some but prob not all the way to the Bills 

 

The other 3 are kind of all over the first round. Most have 1 or the 3 on the board. Elam has everything you look for in a modern CB. Problem is his last year he was inconsistent. 
 

McDuffie is a sound CB that doesn’t have the INTs to back it up. 
 

Booth is another guy that I think does better in zone schemes than press man, making him more of a fit for the Bills.

It isn’t dire. Every year guys like Haden and Peterson and Callahan overvalue what they will get and it takes 2 weeks for the market to tell them they won’t. I expect Vonn to help us there and maybe we get Callahan. Wait 10 more days. Personally I like Haden. They will draft a CB2 in round 1 or 2 and may even package picks to move up to get a player. I hear Beane say best player available but this year they won’t look past a quality CB.

Pretty confident Callahan is a nickel CB, something we dont need

You run to podium if McDuffie is there, even if Booth is there.  I think Stingley may end up falling, while a guy like Elam could end up jumping.

Just adding to your post, I think McDuffie or Stingley would be great choices hopefully one or both of them fall to us.

 

McDuffie is an ideal Bills style corner. He blankets corners (though doesn;t have a lot of explosive plays to show for it) and he is super physical against the run he seems to like to hit. He also could return punts.

 

Stingley may be the most physically complete corner in the draft who would be cb1 if he played more the past two seasons imo. That said he is less physical in run support than Mcduffie but he will likely put up more explosive plays in general of the two. 

 

 I'd add Sauce Gardner too but we all know he isn't dropping low enough to reach him.

Stingley may drop lower than you think just due to his limited playing time the past two years due to injury (weirder things have happened) but based on talent alone, yes, he should be gone before we pick.

I agree. I like both Booth & McDuffie the most. If either of these guys fall, you 100% go CB.  Even if we were to sign a Haden or Peterson to a 1 yr deal.  Then get your speed wr in the 2nd round.

I don't know if it was this week's mmqb by Peter King, but it was definitely something Peter King wrote, about the 4 teams most likely to trade with NYG, and Buffalo was number 1. It also could of been when he was a guest on the Herd, sorry I don't remember the specifics, but this got me thinking, that we might already have the framework of a trade to move up with NYG, to get the top corner of the draft (Sauce Gardner).

 

I know it would cost us 25# this year, 32 next year, and maybe even a mid round pick somewhere, but this would be the time to do it.

I will throw things if we take him at pick 25. He is way too raw right now for my liking. He won't be ready to start for a few years. Yes, you can't teach speed but you also can't expect a kid who went to UTSA and only has two years of corner experience to cover NFL receivers.  With how talented and deep this draft is at cb if we took him before the third I would be ticked off. I want a day 1 starter at cb if we are taking someone at 25. 

 

And even taking him in the third round I would be taking him based off physical traits not talent. His play warrants a 6th or 7th round pick at best. Kid whiffs tackles, isn't a great cover corner, and isn't nearly as physical in the run game as he needs to be for the NFL. Not saying he can't learn just he isn't there right now and he is the type of guy that usually goes in the 6th or 7th to develop who would have if he didn't kill the combine.

Like Tariq a lot but not at 25.  Would love a top WR at 25 then trade up to the middle of the 2nd for Tariq

Are we even sure Sauce lasts to 7 though.  Trade would probably be contingent on that

Pat Narduzzi the Pitt Panthers coach commented on Moving the Chains yesterday that all of the offenses late in the season last year consistently attacked “the other corner” not Dane Jackson. Looks like the front office agreed with that assessment.

The minimal drop in talents between the top five or sic corners in this draft would keep me from doing this. Especially for Sauce Gardner. There are some pundits who isn;t even his top corner in this draft on their board. Joe Marino has him as the third best corner for example. I think we can stay where we are at and get a very very talented corner in Booth, Stingley, McDuffie or Elam.

I am quite sure Beane is well aware of what he does and does not have on the roster, more so than the OP.  Despite the panic around these parts the sky is not actually falling and the season is still six months away.
