Help me out, what does the new defense look like?

Someone help me out here and tell me what you think the projection is as far as starters/backups go for our new defensive line?

I think it's pretty straightforward: Miller - Oliver - Jones (maybe Settle) - Rousseau

Jones probably compliments Oliver more, whereas Settle is more supplementary. But I'm sure we'll see various combinations.

Still waiting on Settle and Phillips to officially sign, think the delay is due to money moving around. Beane doesn’t want to push a penny down the line he doesn’t need too.

I’d say it’s too early. Lot of chatter of Jordan Phillips being signed. I wouldn’t rule out Akiem Hicks until he’s signed somewhere (Just my opinion he’ll join a contender on the cheap)

id really like to keep jerry if possible. hes a nice secondary punch to spell rousseau/ miller. let him come in more fresh after tackles been beat tf up!

Many speculate that the bills are just ready to move on for him... but maybe no one else shows interest and we can get him back for a cheap cheap price?

How do you guys feel about phillips though? I'd feel good about it -- he played pretty good for us when he was here.

Phillips to me is just a guy who will have to make the most of every snap he sees in practice to make the team.

Yeah, we'll see. I'm really liking what I hear about Settle and what a hard worker and impact player he can be. Maybe they play him and Oliver on obvious pass rush downs and Jones is in on 1st and 2nd down for run stuffing?

I was against re-signing Phillips at the time and I'm not too excited to sign him back now. Phillips is not a scheme guy. He does one thing and that's go after the QB. He doesn't play sound football. He doesn't fill appropriate gaps. He is a liability at times. He is a physical force, though.

We could draft another DE or sign another vet on the cheap and that's what I think the Dline looks like this year

Trade Epenesa for a 7th, Cut Star, Draft a DT, Sign a couple UDFA for training camp bodies

 

Keep 9 this year not 10.  If you keep bring back Hughes, Miller could play some OLB in a 3-4 alignment or if Milano misses some time.

Settle for jones on passing downs, but jones was pretty good getting pressure last year too.  If the IDL can cause a ruckus, our DEs are gonna eat.  Bring back Jerry!!! Someone start a petition!

I don't want Jerry back, personally. But I understand those who do. I'd rather let the younger guys get some playing time and development.

God I'd love to see Jerry hoist a Lombardi. Considering all the ref crap he's had to deal with. From what I've read,  Settle is slightly better than Jones. Groot should be able to step up his game with Von chasing qbs back toward him. AJE just didn't pop this season and I'd try trading him with Edmunds. Phillips,  Jones and Boogie will rotate as depth. Please give your top 4 at least 60% of the snaps.

Has Von Miller played DE in a 4-3 defense lately?  (Or in our case 4-2-5?)

 

I'm really happy the Bills went all in on a top tier pass rusher and I trust Beane, but for some reason I thought Von Miller would not be a great scheme fit for us?  His strength seems to be rushing in open space from the OLB spot?  

 

Can the Bills find ways to move Von Miller around or is he definitely just RDE?  If so any concern he doesn't play as well at that position?
