sherpa Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 So the Panthers open their season against a team they just acquired a starting QB from, for the second season in a row. Last year the Jets, this year the Browns. Statistical anomaly. Kind of like the Bills 2019 season. They start by winning a game they trailed 16-3, and ended losing a game they were up 16-3. Whatever happens, the Watson issue has impacted a lot of NFL teams this off season. Quote

Allen knows the line between cocky and confident, Baker tends to live on one side of it. JMO. Agreed. In that respect, Baker is alot like Aaron Rodgers, but without the talent to back it up. 1 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 that Browns/Panthers game, which was a total dud before, is suddenly really interesting. Quote

The better statistical anomaly was the 2003 season when in week one, home opener, we rocked the Pats 31-0 then in week 17, final game, we get rocked 31-0 by the Pats. 4 Quote

If the Bills traded Josh Allen 2 years ago before he fully blossomed, Shady etc would have made some positive comments about Josh. The silence has been and remains curious. He is not well liked from what I have read. Particularly after OBJ got dealt, a lot of chatter came out that the locker room was divided and many blamed Baker for running Odell out of town. Quote

In reality though, it will likely see Darnold v the Browns backup QB. There is no way that Mayfield will beat out Darnold at training camp whilst he is learning the playbook. Nothing to see here. So, who do you think is going to be starting in Indianapolis? Or Denver? It's not even training camp yet. Mayfield is going over his new playbook right now... as we speak. There is no way that: a. A five year vet, who has already played under multiple head coaches, can't adjust to a new playbook. b. Mayfield won't be given every chance to compete for the starting job. c. Mayfield wouldn't have a better than 50/50 chance of outplaying Darnold. d. Carolina didn't acquire Mayfield without the general intention of him being able to start week one. EDIT: One thing I will agree with, though: The amount of guaranteed money Carolina was able to get Mayfield for does put him in "flyer" territory. Edited July 7, 2022 by Rocky Landing Quote
DapperCam Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Baker takes the Browns from literally winless to beating the Steelers in the playoffs, and this is how they treat him. He beat a division rival so bad, there were players crying on the bench. This is why they continue to be the factory of sadness. 1 Quote
BuffaloBill Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 The Browns have really redefined the meaning of “QB controversy.” It is so nice to know the Bills have turned the corner with JA #17. 2 Quote

Lol, Bills made their fair share of bad decisions all those years for sure and was embarrassing to an extent on many occasion. But not like the Browns and I'm thankful for that much at least. Browns have an over flowing ***** show that seems to get worse than the year before. They fooled their fans into believing they finally turned the corner and future is brighter than ever with that post season 2 seasons ago and they now have went above and beyond to the next level. It would be tough if I was a Browns fan for sure Quote

Exactly doesn't make any sense and I maintain that Watson is not a massive upgrade over Mayfield especially when looking how the current team is built (i.e. physical power running team). But when you factor in the legal issues this type of deal should have never been made even if he is/was a massive upgrade. So there has to be more to the story of moving on from Mayfield or the Browns truly are a dumpster fire organization especially wanting to move on from a former #1 overall draft pick before his rookie contract is up and fact he was able to get them back into the playoffs and even win a game there. ALF Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Carolina might have a QB , Baker or Sam , price still ok for this season. Browns should be ok but bad reputation. Quote

There were alleged rumors that the OBJ trade divided the locker room with Baker. The good news is now the locker room will be united by everyone disliking Watson. Yeah Browns did a true, pure bred "hold my beer" that took the top off assuring to remain unbeaten for the foreseeable future. I honestly can't see any franchise that will be that level of a ***** show. Quote

But +1 for the Goofus and Gallant reference. Us readers of Highlights Magazine can relate. 1 Quote
