I remember the game when I was "over" Tyrod. Tony Romo was constantly telling Tyrod to "Just throw it!!" because guys were open. But Tyrod would always wait until he saw clear distance between the receiver and the DB. Romo explained that when the receiver made his cut, and had inside position on the DB, that was "open" in the NFL. It's called throwing on schedule. It's not taking chances. It's how you have to play QB. It's also how you get YAK. Tyrod could not overcome this. And it's why he's a career backup. 1 1 1 Quote
Maine-iac Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 People always talk about "just throw it" Tyrod but fail to recognize that when Taylor had Woods, Watkins, and Hogan he was top ten in a bunch of metrics. The "afraid to throw it Tyrod" that they are talking about was throwing to Deonte Thompson, Zay Jones, Jordan Mathews, and Kelvin Benjamin (post injury). I can see why he didn't have a ton of faith in just throwing it up at that point. I'll fully admit the guys ceiling isn't super star like Allen or Rogers but if you put a few weapons around him he can lead an offense. They didn't do Taylor any favors after his first season and it only got worse with Dennison. I've never understood the Taylor hate. He would have had us in the playoffs years earlier if Rex had been able to coach defense. Much like Fitz (who everyone loves) he has limitations but the guy can win some football games in the right situation. 1 1 Quote

He joins the likes of Sam Bradford and Ryan Fitzpatrick as winners in the business side of football. Plus with less games played after he became a backup primarily again he took less wear and tear so when he does decide to retire he may be healthier with that healthy bank account. And really that's even more valuable than the $$. Which is why.... I think Brady is gonna regret playing another year. I don't believe Brady will be favored as much by refs as has in the past. And as a result when he gets hit solidly even some of the legal hits will be harder for the 45 year old body to absorb no matter the name on the jersey being considered the best to ever play the game. Last I checked neither Father Time nor Mother Nature give 2 figs who a person is. Which is why I also hope Fitzpatrick retires. If he still wants to be that mentoring guy in the qb room he can s ign on as a qb coach or assistant with a team with young qb. Edited March 16, 2022 by AuntieEm Quote
julian Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 At the end of that playoff game in Jacksonville I was yelling at nobody that I never want to see Tyrod in a Bills uniform ever again 1 Quote

Because he is a terrible football player who cost us Bob Woods and got smacked by Blake Bortles. 1 Quote
boater Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Wasn't the word on Tyrod: if it was a passing play, he didn't wear his mouth guard, if it was a running play he wore his mouth guard? My memory is vague on it. Quote
