I am very sorry to see Levi go.  Consummate professional, squeezed all the performance he could out of the athleticism he got at birth.  I will always root for him.  Go get 'em Levi, just not against us!

They're banking on Tre to come back soon and at 100% from the knee. Doesn't always go that way. Need a solid vet signing and high CB pick.

They have be wanting to go a different direction at cb 2 as far as skill set. I don’t see why else they wouldn’t pay that price (if he was asking for the same from us). I’m sure cb will also be an earlier pick in the draft, first 3 rounds would be my guess.

I’m sure they will bring in a vet who will compete for a starting spot with a rookie. But due to Tre’s injury, I’m sure it will be a vet who can play either cb 1 or 2 week one, with Dane/rookie at the other spot. 
 

For the price Levi took with Pittsburgh, the Bills have to something specific in mind, which probably entails a cb who can do more things, and let the defense play a little different. 
 

Also, maybe the Bills offered the same and he chose Pittsburg over us? I wonder.

McD and Frazier could have Bert and Ernie starting at CB in this defense and they would still be half-way decent. I'm not worried about losing Wallace - I am confident whoever gets drafted or a guy currently on the roster will do fine at CB #2.

Zierlein, who isn't infalliable but who I most often find myself nodding along to when I re-read his draft profiles 2-3 yrs later, says "Elam has early CB3 and eventual CB2 value as a press and zone corner."

 

Eventual doesn't sound like a good 2022 plan

My guess wound be some of the older vets like Haden, Sherman, Peterson. Either way, I can’t imagine the Bills not having a specific FA cb or two in mind. 
 

Also, if they were to be planning on cb early in the draft to compete for a starting spot week 1 (with Tre out), I’d imagine Beane would only do that if he saw that there were multiple guys he would take, and he is confident he will get one. Kind of like how he has described his thought process when trading down in the draft. 
 

For a 4 m a season, it will be interesting to see what’s upcoming in FA and how the plan unfolds. I’m super curious which vet or two they bring in. Who would you want?

For sure he is. He's a beast. But there's no guarantees with an ACL that he'll have his full game speed and cut ability by the opener. For some it takes longer  to get it back. We need some quality depth at CB.

His surgery was reported as mid-December, Dec. 15th (3 weeks post injury). 

That's standard practice to minimize scar tissue formation.

"Athletes returning before nine months following an ACL tear are at a 7 times greater risk to suffer another ACL injury."

 

9 months from December 15th is September 15th, and he might well be on a "pitch count" or just come off IR at that time and need several weeks practice to work himself into full playing shape.

 

Bottom line even if Tre is working super-hard and it's going as well as it can, if the Bills are conservative with him to avoid that 7x increased risk of reinjury, he's likely to miss September.

I am guessing they are aiming higher. Either through the draft or free agency. Honestly it is the perfect time to draft one in the first round who you have cheap for 4 years plus the option.

From where I stand, this FA period seems to be setting up for RD1 CB & RD2 WR

 

Fwiw, there’s a decent chance that aligns pretty closely with BPA.  
 

However, if a guy slips, we seem to be boxing ourselves in to needing an early CB and WR.   (Which I’m fine with)

 

Only thing that could definitely throw a wrench into this would be a Danielle Hunter trade, as that’s likely sending our Pick 25 to Minnesota.

If there’s one thing the Bills have shown it’s to be overly cautious regarding guys coming off injuries, so I expect to see him in October at the earliest.

Is their a high level FA that could be the mystery star signing that contacted the Bills about wanting to play in Buffalo? 

 

Cause for the $, as others said, its kinda a head scratcher at this point to why they didn't just resign him.
